Last Post for 2006

Yep, this will be my last post for 2006. I am so looking forward to a "new year". By the end of January, we will be in financial freedom. No taxes due, no credit cards bills, nothing. Only utilities, car, food and everyday needs stuff. Yeah!!!

The photo is Kayla playing Whack-A-Mole. Such a fun game! We laugh and laugh.

I will not be making a resolutions list again this year. Last year I made a goal list and it was so much easier to achieve the goals than to just resolve to do everything better. Specifics, people!

We will also be having a new baby in January. Daisy is due January 20th. So looking forward to a new little girl to dress in pink!

I need to do some reflection and round-up of this past year. There is so much more I want to say here, but alas, I am at work and work I must do.

Happy, happy New Year Everyone!!!

Aftermath

What a wonderful Christmas! Saturday the girls went to Bruce's family's for celebrating. On Christmas Eve, we celebrated Christmas because we had Ben that day. Kenny came over at noon; Mom got here shortly before, I picked up Jayme, Laura and Ben. Ben was so much fun!!! He wanted to open anything wrapped in Mickey Mouse or Winnie the Pooh paper whether it was his or not. We tried to hold him off until Cathy and her family arrived and also Joey, Tera and Cammi. The Christmas ham was delish! It slow cooked all night in fruit cocktail. Moist, yum! I also served garlic mashed potatoes; green beans w/almonds; crescent rolls. Dessert was a Cheesecake made by Amanda and Kayla. Along with cookies and candies, everyone left full. Cammi loved all of her toys and clothes. Kayla, of course, had to wait til Santa came that evening with her presents but she opened those brought by Cathy and Melissa. She was a happy girl. I took tons of photos and can't wait to scrap them. I bought a beautiful Christmas photo album and have been gathering up embellishments and papers and plan to work solely on that when Stacey, Terri, Jeannette and I go to the Queen of Crop Getaway in Columbiana, Ohio this coming March.

I got a lot of great gifts this year: Reversible coat, leather on one side, fur on the other. A sort of day/night thing. Three pairs of slacks, three turtle necks and three blouses (mix & match). A purse, slippers, immersible mixer, gorgeous shabby chic ragweave baskets and tablecloth from my Mom and Dad, who also remembered the Cello's. They also gave me a Mary Englebriet book, hmmm, oh, a fabulous book stand and what she says is a scrapping tote, but I see Florida beach bag written all over it. I did take photos of alot of mine and Kayla's gifts and need to download/upload. I got lots more from my folks. Cathy gave me an adorable Mary Englebriet trunk filled with scrapping embellies, along with some paper and a calendar. From Amanda, The Family Stone (exactly what I asked for). From Kayla, a grandma/heart photo keychain; from Cammi, a painted ceramic turtle (she pointed out a spot she missed); from Laura and Jayme, a fabulous purse with matching slide-ons, filled with Chai teabags, a candle, a Love cup, a fantastic first print of a volume 3 cookbook put out by the Ford Motor Company with details about restaurants in different states and a recipe from each one. I love it! Well, I got lots of stuff!!

Kayla got the American Doll, Emily. She also got the Fisher-Price Twin Time Dollhouse. The Lil' Mommy Triplets and adorable baby furniture (seesaw, playpen, seat that vibrates (so cute), a carrier she paid for herself at A. J. Wright's, I think something else, maybe not). She also got a Cabbage Patch Preemie, some clothes for her Cabbage Patches, that Teen Scene doll that makes faces, a Holiday Barbie, lots of clothes much to her dismay but which we loved!!! She also got the game Whack-a-Mole (so fun), puzzles, seek and find books and just so much more.

As with every Christmas morning, we had to wake Kayla up, we held off til about 9:30/10:00 (how lucky are we that this child literally has to be woken up to open her gifts). After bagels w/cream cheese, showers, dressing, we were finally off to Mom and Dad's. They said between 11:00/12:00, I think we left the house after 12:30. BUT we were not the latest, Cathy and her crew were. Lunch was yummy. Opened gifts, visited, and then back home to unload the car and then reload, as Amanda and Kayla had to pick up Jayme and visit their Dad. While they were gone I nodded off a little and then started supper. One Tastefully Simple Gift Packs coming up! The Potato Cheddar soup, the beer bread (made with soda pop), spinach dip, and Nana's Apple Cake. What a cozy supper. Just me and the girls around our tiny yellow kitchen table. We played numerous games of Whack A Mole, started the TV Puzzle, began the Halloween Search and Find book, watched Christmas cartoons. Hmmmmm, so peaceful. SO Stress free (My goal met!).

Well, I can just go on and on now can't I??? I'll stop here and see about rustling something up for lunch. I hope the eatery in our building is open (at work).

Hope your Christmas and the rest of the week are merry!!

Happy Holidays to All!

Last post before Christmas! Happy Holidays to All! Hope yours is as wonderful as I anticipate mine to be. This photo is of the marshmallow Snow people that Kayla so patiently created. I am going to spray them with acrylic and see if they keep. (They do not taste too good, but are too cute to throw away).

We are celebrating a full family Christmas on the Eve of Christmas in the afternoon. We have Ben that day but only until 7:00 p.m. So I have invited my whole family over for luncheon and presents. That night Kayla and Amanda will go to Amanda's Father's family and then Christmas morning it will be just me and the girls and maybe Kayla's Dad. We will take a run up to my Mom's for lunch and then back home for a light supper. I have yet to decide whether or not to invite Jayme and Laura, I may. We'll see. I was hoping for a very quiet Christmas since all the festivities will be Christmas Eve.

I still have so much yet to do!!! No stressing though. Whatever does not get done, just doesn't. I only have a few odds and ends to pick up from the store. Kayla still has to make her Mom's gift. And I plan on doing a little more baking tomorrow while the girls are out in the afternoon. That's it. This has been the first organized Christmas I have ever had and it feels good!! Next year will be even better!

Happy, happy Holidays!!

Dagnabit!

The photo is from Kayla's class recital held at the Barnes & Noble at Monroeville Mall. It was a huge success!!

The hard driving in my computer is slowly dwindling to a halt. It needs replaced badly!! But with Christmas here and the real estate taxes due by January 31, there just isn't enough left over to go buy a new one. Boo Hoo! So, I have gotten so far behind on my posts at two of my favorite hang outs (Treasures to Scrap and Treasured Scrapbooking). We are so busy at work that I can only steal a few glances a day at my favorite places. Oh well. It will be fixed some time next year and then I will get caught up.

So excited with Christmas just a few days away! Kayla received Santa's letter postmarked from the North Pole (AK). She was thrilled!! All of the presents are bought. Just need wrapped. Christmas dinner has been planned and purchased. I think I need to buy some sodas. Oooh, and I never thought of what to make for dessert. Gotta take care of that.

Not much time to blog. Have work to do. Til tomorrow! Happy Thursday!!

Kayla's Tree

This is Kayla's tree that stands in her room. She had such a fun time picking out the ornaments and lights for her tiny $1.00 tree. It's so pretty lit. The second photo is her tiny village surrounding her tree. She loves it!

Our Sixth Annual Ornament Exchange was Sunday (which was also my 48th BD). We had 18 persons in attendance and everyone (I hope or so I have been told) had a wonderful time. I think they did. There was so much laughter and joy. We played the Left Right game (the prizes were someone else' s white elephant); the Memory Gift Exchange (so much fun!); Kayla had a search and find; and as always, lots of door prizes. No one went home empty handed. I got the ornament my Mom gifted - an adorable Santa on a wooden sleigh. Kayla traded hers for a gingerbread house. Amanda, well, Amanda didn't quite make it for the festivities, she had too many of those the night before. The food was good (except for the potato soup (my opinion)), not much left and that's always a good sign!!

So, in preparation for the party, Saturday was spent cleaning and decorating and the house is shaping up nicely. I got up an hour early yesterday morn and got my room together. All that's left is the playroom and a few cozy touches to Kayla's "new" room. Which she is totally loving. She is so cute. She says "Gram, come into my room". And then turns to me and says, "I love saying that."

Tomorrow night is the Surety Christmas Party. I need to dye my hair tonight and launder the outfit I plan on wearing. Friday, just hanging with Kayla and baking. Kayla is singing at the Barnes & Noble in Monroeville early Saturday morning. Then we plan to wrap up some shopping and have lunch at Evergreen (Kayla's pick; mine is next month). Then lots more baking as Sunday is our Cookie Exchange Luncheon. I think I'll make chicken salad.

Back to work. Happy Wednesday!!!! And it's a pretty day here - high in the 50's. Okay, but I am still hoping for a White Christmas!!!!

It's Beginning to Look alot like Christmas!

Well, I was trying to upload a few photos but blogger cannot comply with my request. Whatever! Still baking here. I have a retirement dinner to go to with my Mom this evening, but then I have to make some progress cleaning the dining room tonight. Still need to make the macaroons, too. Sunday is our party and I don't know how I'll ever get done. The girls and I stopped at K-Mart last night. The chenille sweaters were still 1/2 off so we each got one. Kayla and I addressed our Christmas cards last night only to find that we still need 18 more. I don't know what I was thinking when I bought a box of 15. Well, can't post too long today. I have a lot I want to accomplish at work. So, Happy Wednesday!!

So Exciting!

We are really getting into the Holiday Spirit this year. Mom suggested we have a cookie exchange between us girls (Cathy, Melissa, Mom, Amanda, Kayla and me). So, the girls and I are just having a blast. We started baking Saturday and are going to attempt to bake a batch or two every evening. Mom came over Saturday and she made Turtle cookies and I made Snowballs, Kayla made Chocolate Cut-Outs and Peanut Butter Cookies and Amanda made these cookies where you mix up a batch of chocolate dough that gets wrapped around Hershey kisses, yum! Sunday, I baked another batch of Snowballs and Kayla baked up a batch of those new swirl chips cookies. I think Amanda made something but I just cannot remember what. I worked until 12:12 a.m yesterday so the girls whipped up a batch of Chocolate Chip Cookies. Tonight is Macaroons. Still on the list are Buckeyes, Frosted Sugar Cut-Outs, Orange Cookies, these pretzel, kiss, M&M things that are fast, easy and yummy and Sugarplum candies, something with butterscotch chips and I think that just may do it.

Mom and I went to Theresa's Ornament Exchange Sunday and had great fun catching up with old friends and making new ones. Our party is this Sunday which is also my birthday.

I am just about finished with my holiday shopping. I have two gifts to pick up for Amanda, 1 for Kayla, 1 for Cammi, gift certificates for Mom, Joe and Bruce and lottery tickets for Dad. Yep, that should just about do it.

I am taking photos of each batch and then I am going to scrap a Christmas Cookies 2006 Recipe Book. Yeah!!

Well, I guess that's it for today (so far). I have SO MUCH TO DO! Work so gets in my way!!

Happy Tuesday!!!

Last Post for November

Wow! This year flew! Literally! And now my favorite time of year is going to pass in a snap. Well, I hope not. I have been very organized (so far) so that I can enjoy every minute of my days and each little detail. Tonight the girls and I are going to the Dollar Store for some grab bag gifts and then to the market to pick up some items so that we can begin baking first thing Saturday morning. Excitement!!! Tomorrow night, I am going cropping. I have two CJ's to work on and I would really like to a gift for Amanda. I have everything, just need to dig it all out. Maybe tonight if there is time.

I am working on the list I created yesterday although it is a lot longer since I've added so much.

It's been in the 60's here this week, but rainy. Tomorrow is to drop to 55 and the weekend is to be downright cold. Snow - bring it on!!!! Mom is coming over Saturday morning to bake with us. Later in the evening Kayla and Amanda have the Zoo Sleepover. Sunday afternoon, Mom and I are off to an ornament exchange. And that's just the tip of the iceberg! I am loving it - we are so busy!

Well, I just wanted to post being its the last day and all. I gotta go work more on my list.

Cheers to a spirit filled December!

The Office

This is where I spend most of my days - at the office. This is part of my space. What I look at every day. It's familiar; I like it.

I love my job. Love it! I have one main attorney I work for and help out two others. I've come along way from flunking Office Practice in high school. Didn't do too well in typing either. I think I got a "C" and I think I partly got that because Mrs. Marshall liked me. Well, if she could see me now, she'd be proud.

Today is weigh in day here at work. I hope I did well. My clothes are fitting so much better since the initial 14 lbs lost. I would like to add a few more to that number. 17 lbs. lost will be 10% of weight loss. That would be cool. But I truly have about 21 lbs. to go.

I have time entry I need to jump on. So I am going to listen to the videos on my blog as I type away.

Happy Tuesday!! (It's going to 63 today; 65 tomorrow and 68 on Thursday. I think its the quiet before the storm and winter is just around the corner. I am so hoping for a White Christmas!!).

Post Holiday

Phone fascination. Here are two more that love to "play" phone. This is an old rotary phone that my Mom gave to Kayla to play with. It gets a lot of use and occasionally fought over. I see it as training for when they are teenagers are constantly on the phone.

Thanksgiving Day was very nice. Dinner was delicious. Joey, Tera and Cammi did not make it and that was okay. Laura and Jayme came, Bruce (was the turkey), me, Amanda and Kayla. Kaileen ate with us, too. Friday we did some shopping and that evening Kayla and I put up a little tree in her room, decorated it with multi-color and white lights and miniature ornaments. We are starting a miniature village for her, too, and will be adding to it this week. Amanda and I have been moving furniture around. Kayla loves her new room. She loves saying, "My room". Such a cutie. Well, now there is literally no room at the inn. Everyone will have to make it on their own now. Kayla and I put the main tree up yesterday though we still have to decorate. So much to do!!! Every Sunday from here on out is something. Two parties, a cookie exchange and then Christmas Eve. It's going so fast and we are trying so hard to enjoy each day to the fullest and make it last.

Happy Monday!

Ben is 2!!!

Ben is now two! His birthday was Friday, November 17. We celebrated on Sunday. In attendance were, of course, Ben, Jayme and Laura; Joey, Tera and Cammi; Mom, Cathy and Melissa; Sam, Nick and David; Amanda and Kayla and me. Ben was not feeling too well (ear infection) but he had some good moments, too.

I picked up my layaway on Sunday. Now I need to wrap. And I still need to order Cammi's gifts on-line; and I need one more big gift for Kayla; Ben is done except for some stocking stuff; need to buy Mom's present; Dad's lottery tickets; a few things for Amanda; and lots of gift cards which I'll get from Giant Eagle.

The invites to our 6th Annual Ornament Exchange have been mailed. Amanda and I just need a menu. And then we need to plan our cookie exchange luncheon. Such a wonderful, busy time of year.

And to keep the spirit alive throughout the New Year, we are creating a Jack Frost day for a weekend in January, complete with presents, and good food, and guests. I do so enjoy entertaining.

At the office we picked our Secret Santa names, now I just have to do a little shopping. The fun here is getting the gift on the person's desk without them finding out who their Secret Santa is. We buy five gifts for a total of $15.00 and each day for a week give to our giftee. So much fun!

Well, I still have lots to plan! Have a good day!

Breakfast with Kayla

Breakfast with Kayla. One of my favorite moments of the day. When she has just woken up and she looks so soft, her cheeks are still pink and she's just adorable. This was taken on Friday. Picture day. Kayla went shopping for the dress the day before; picked it out herself.

Ben turned 2 on Friday. We had a birthday party for him yesterday (will upload the pics later). He has an ear infection and was not feeling too well. The house was filled with family. No cake left (thank goodness); no ice cream either.

Oh, it was Light-Up Night downtown Friday, too. I really need to bring Kayla to this event. Always been afraid because there are so many people! But walking through on my way to the bus, the sounds, smells and excitement, I knew I should have had Amanda bring her in. And the weather wasn't too bad either. I snapped a few photos, just need to download. I am putting it on the calendar as a MUST for next year.

I bought the turkey on Saturday and all the fixings. Invited Jayme and Laura; Joey, Tera and Cammi. And of course there is me, Kayla and Amanda. Bruce is questionable. Just a small gathering, but lots of good food!

Is It Only Tuesday???

Here are the cousins. On the left is Kayla and Cammi. On the right is Ben. They had such a good time playing here the other day. I love having them all together. Well, we are so busy getting ready for the Holidays. Mom, Cathy, Melissa, Kayla and I went shopping Sunday afternoon and then to lunch and decided to have a cookie exchange just amongst us (Amanda included). We chose December 17th for our little get together/exchange. I don't think I have a free weekend until the second weekend of January! Ben will be 2 on Friday, November 17. We are having a party for him on Sunday. All the invites are out. I now have to get the Ornament Exchange invites out by Monday. Also need to remember to pick up an ornament for the Exchange at A Cherry On Top. Oh, and of course ornaments for Theresa's party and our own.

So sad to see that In a Blink of an Eye will no longer be in business next year. So much talent there.

Scrapped Friday night and finished both my "It's Tradition" and "Favorite Recipe" CJ's. Mailed them both out yesterday along with Lori's "Did You Know?" CJ. It's on its way home to Lori. I can't wait to get my very first CJ back. I really enjoyed it. Now, I've signed up for two more.

I haven't entered any contests or challenges lately. I think I need to take some time off and just get back into enjoying the reason I first began scrapping. I am so into mini-books right now. Bo Bunny Press's little binder books are awesome!!! The LSS only had two and I scarfed them right up!

I think the only gift I am going to make this year will be for Amanda. I really need to get started on it.

Okay, I need to work!! Happy day!

The Christmas Flavors Are In . . .

. . . at Starbuck's! Mmm, Mmm good! Amanda and I stopped there this morning and had some Christmas flavor goodness. Ooh, and they have adorable ornaments of their cups. You need to see them!!! Amanda picked up a Snowman mug for Kayla (spill proof).

On the homefront, Jayme moved out on Monday and in with his girlfriend. Another room free!! We are going to fill it with our wicker furniture and put the Christmas tree up in there. In March, it will become Kayla's bedroom. I love redecorating!! And moving furniture around (trait handed down by Mom).

There is so much going on with the Holidays fast approaching; my head is spinning with all the wonderful things I want to do.

Going cropping tomorrow. Am working only on two CJ's and a mini-book. Can't wait. Ooh, that reminds me, I have to work on Amanda's Christmas present.

Back to work. Happy Thursday!!!!

November, already!

Busy month. But it will be fun. This was my entry to TTS's Doodlebug Contest. Kayla and Ben had each gotten a new box of crayons and coloring books and were just so intent on what they were doing. Ben's headwear is one of Kayla's headbands. He is a trip!

The Look

The Look. That's my Ben. And that's "The Look". He is just the sweetest thing!

Did you remember to turn your clocks back? For once, I was on top of things and I remembered. I loved having that extra hour. Really needed it. Spent Saturday cleaning the house from top to bottom for our Halloween party. Now, I just have to get back into the FlyLady Clean Routine and the rest will fall into place.

The Halloween party went well. Two of Kayla's friends came, Monique and Dominique. So she was real happy. And there was Jayme and his new girlfriend, Laura. Cute. And they like each other so much. Hooray for Jayme! Joey, Tera and Cammi. My cutie Cammi. Mom. Cathy and Melissa. My brother stopped by to show us his new ride and joined in. Barb, Roxy and Evelyn. Dominique's mom Renee. Mandy and Me. Oh, and Marc stopped by. We had lots of food, played games and had fun! BUT, I got a migraine that started around noon and finally, I think, about 4:00, I had to excuse myself and go to bed. How awful!! What a horrible hostess. My Mom and kids cleaned up. I slept. It was a pretty bad one this time. Woke up around 7. It still hurt, but I really needed to see my Kayla Bear. Worked out, which really helped, played with Kay, watched some tube, and off to bed. A little weak today, but better!!!

Well, I have to get to work. Will post later about the fence. HAVE A GREAT MONDAY!!

61 Days til Christmas!

Can you believe it???? I have so much to do! Well, I finished my Knock LO for Round 3 of ScrapLove's "So You Think You Can Scrap" Survivor Challenge. I like it.

Halloween is next week. I still need to pick up a costume for Ben. Kayla is going to be Vampira. (See photo right).

What I need to do today: Wash the kitchen floor; clean out under the sink (Ben can help); wipe down the fridge and appliances; decorate. Prepare a menu/shopping list for Sunday's Halloween party (which started off as just family and has now grown to about 20 people). Then on to the bathroom where everything needs scrubbed (Kayla can help) and then wash the upper hall floor. If I can get all of that done tonight, everything else should go smoothly. We shall see.

Saturday, Mom is coming in to help cook and then we can clean up anything else that needs attention. That evening, I am taking the kiddies to Zoo Boo. We always enjoy that.

It's Round Up Time!

September 2006 Round-Up (See The Roundup for details)
What books and/or magazines did I read this month? Magazines! I love magazines. BUT, I am trying to cut back. This past month, besides my usual scrap mags, I read Mary Englebreit's Home Companion and Guideposts. As for books, I read "Married to a Stranger" by Patricia MacDonald; "The Journal, The Short Life and Mysterious Death of Amy Zoe Mason" by Kristine Anderson(?) and Joyce Atkinson; and "Stupid and Contagious" by Caprice Crane.
What movies and/or tv shows did I watch this month? Saw "The Ant Bully" and "Open Season" at the theater and watched the DVD of Green Card.
What special days did I celebrate and how? Mom's birthday was September 8 and her and Dad's anniversary was September 14th.
What illnesses or health concerns did I have in September? Got a cold about the third week of the month and missed some work but that's about it.
What fun things did I do with my friends and/or family? Basically, just went to the movies. It was a pretty uneventful month. School started. Started Christmas shopping and planning our holiday parties. It was a pretty uneventful month.
What new foods, recipes or restaurants did I try in September? Kayla and I ate at Red, Hot and Blue and really liked it.
What special or unusual purchases did I make? Nothing unusual. New clothes for Kayla for school.
What were this month’s disappointments? My inability to get it together and get organized!
What were my accomplishments this month? Began Christmas shopping. This is a huge plus because there are only six paychecks til Christmas.
Anything else noteworthy to record about September? For the most part, it was a pretty peaceful month!

Only Good Things Today

That's my thoughts for today. I got up earlier than usual; scrapped a page of the Home mini-book I am creating; dropped Jayme off at his work; caught the bus to town; stopped in at Church to give thanks. Going to Church on my way to work has become one of my favorite things to do. I feel good for the rest of the day. Helps keep me in check, too. Last night was peaceful. Spent the whole evening (total quality time) with Kayla. She is so much fun! Blows me away with some of the things she says. So smart!

Today Weight Watchers starts. Weigh-in is at noon. I anticipate weighing in somewhere around 180?? Higher?? Just awful! Well, we shall see! I'll be starving the next few days, I'm sure!

Okay, well, I have a ton of work on my desk I need to get caught up on. It's gorgeous outside. Cool, crisp, Autumn.

Have a great day!

Last week of September!

Already! Time is flying!!! Okay, the 2007 HOF rules came out last week. Are YOU submitting this year??? Every year I have seriously thought about it and have not done it. This year I promised myself I would and don't you know Assignment A has everyone buzzing. An innovative technique?? Haven't most art form techniques been covered? Ugh! Anyway, I've come up with two ideas and I think I'll try. The remainder of the assignments are way doable.

Exciting news (for me)! I was gifted a HP Digital Camera!! Finally! This was on Friday night and I still have not opened it. I still can't believe it!! And a memory card and a carrying case. I was so syked!! Just in time for HOF entries. OH, BELIEVE ME, I have no grand illusions that I will be chosen, BUT, I must give it a try. MUST!

The weekend was good, totally not what the weathermen forecasted. Yeah, we had some rain, but for the most part, it was a sunny, gorgeous weekend. Kayla and I participated in a weekend on-line crop and had a great time. I love that little girl! Next weekend, we are going to go see "Open Season" at the Omnimax. We saw "Ant Bully" at this type of theater, and it was awesome!!! Took Ben, but he wouldn't leave the 3-D glasses on.

Found out last week that the new grandchild will be a girl! Hooray, another darling little girl!!!

Tomorrow we begin Weight Watchers here at the office. Thank goodness!! I am moving up in sizes fast! Amanda and Kayla walk with me every night so that helps!

Ali Edwards' AEzine/Life Artist Newsletter came out today. So much inspiration there! Love it!

At BigPictureScrapbooking, I think I am going to sign up for Lisa Damrosch's new class. I loved the last one and got so much out of it.

Still waiting for CK to start taking registrations for their on-line classes.

And I am participating in Shimelle's 31 day class. It will be over this week, but I am definitely signing up for her Christmas journal class.

I guess that's it. I had anticipated completing so many challenges this month, I am ashamed that I only completed, I think, 3. Oh, well, there is always next month!!

And We're Off!

Not really. We are all still here. Oh, so many pans in the fire, so much to do! I can't wait to get home! I printed off some really cute clip art so that I can make some holiday cards (it's also Marcie's card challenge) and I can't wait to get started!! I would also like to grab up Kayla and take a quick run out to Joann Fabrics. I think that is where I saw the scrappy adhesives tape. I currently use and love Creative Memories photo tape; been ordering 4 at a time; but I just go through it too fast and I am so not about waiting right now. I need it and want it today!!

I also need to take Kayla for a walk so we can find some colorful leaves for a layout I have in mind. If we can't find any that will do (it may be too early, even though the weather says "fall"); we will make our own out of bright yellow paper and then ink the edges red.

Did you see the moon last night?? So full, so gorgeous!!!!

Kayla and I finished her new book, it's by Angie Sage and its an Araminta Spookie novel (so far there are only 2; I need to visit her Angie's website and encourage her to come out with a new one). Volume 1 in the (I hope to be) series is called My Haunted House. Read it in 3 evenings. Kayla begged to start the 2nd as soon as we finished the first. It is "The Sword in the Grotto". Really cute books, fast reads!

Okay, I need to make a to-do list for this evening. Ciao!

I've Seemed to Lost My Picture . . .

. . . and I don't know how or why. And of course I cannot remember how I did it in the first place.

Well, anyway on to more exciting news. It's Fall! Today is gorgeous! There are so many new contests and design team calls this month. It's exciting. All I want to do is go home and create!! I have so much on my mind; so many ideas!!

Here is a new little diddy by Kayla:

The photo is her cousin Ben who spends every weekend with us and one night during the week. Found some great little embellies in the new Paper Wishes catalog. Have you checked that out lately?

Well, there are tons of challenges this month I need to copy down in my little notebook so I can be on top of the rules for each and deadlines. So, gotta go. Happy Wednesday!

Edited. Found what I did wrong. Will have to use this photo for now. Need to update!

She's At It Again!

Yep! Kayla's been scrapping and learning to use new product. In this layout, she discovered Colorbok Chalk Inks (I love these little cateyes!), photo turns and brads. The challenge was to use ribbon, 3 patterned papers, photo turns and brads. She did a great job!!!

I have superceded my original goal of 50 layouts for the year 2006 (who knew I'd be scrapping so many Friday evenings at the LSS!?!). So, I've upped the total to 100. That's a little scary, but I'm up to 59 layouts currently. I also predicted 12 mini-albums and have completed 6. As for cards, I have truly only made 1 and that was Kayla's 8th birthday card. I predicted 30, so I need to get busy on my Christmas cards, which Mom helped stamp and I think they just need a few touches.

Went to Barnes & Noble this weekend and found some adorable Halloween postcards to send our party invites on. Also picked up a cute book for Kayla which we started reading Sunday night and as of last night, we are more than half-way through. Kayla is loving it and she didn't want to stop. When my eyes started crossing and I was falling asleep while reading, I said that's it! We'll finish tomorrow night!

Sad about Steve Irwin the Crocodile Hunter. Caught a segment last night of his adorable little girl, Bindi. Too sad!!

It was cold here in Pittsburgh this weekend. Not cold enough to turn the furnace on, thank goodness! But cold enough to shut all the windows and wash up the heavier blankets.

Happy Monday!

New Beginnings

That's how I feel about September. New beginnings. New school year. We are moving into a new season - Fall - my favorite!!! Kayla started school on Monday and she was happy!!! And that makes us happy!!! Okay, so, I have been copying from Pub's Calendar alot of new and upcoming contests. I am going to up my quota this month and just enter everything. It truly does not matter if my work is selected - its the challenge. The knowing that you have stuff out there and there is a good possibility it may get picked for a great prize. And if not, who cares, you have a great layout to pass down to your children.

On my list for things to do before the end of this month: The monthly roundup; finish cleaning my bedroom (this has been an ongoing project!); update my planner; register for the Zoo Overnights; fix the dryer and the front screen door.

My latest and greatest layout which is my submission for TreasuredScrapbooking's August Newsletter Sketch Contest. I used 3 Bugs in a Rugs for the pp and quote and their monograms as templates for the word Joy; also Prima flowers; Colorbok sequins; HOTP ribbon; and Magic Mesh. I love it!!! The photo is Kayla playing in the fountain at PPG Square, Downtown, Pittsburgh.

This little gem was created by Kayla. It was for Round 2 of the Effer's 13 photos challenge. We didn't move on to Round 3 but we are going to complete the challenge at home. I love this little grandbaby of mine. She just amazes me. Her creations are all her own, she is not one for taking advice. I just lay everything out there for her and watch her create.

School starts Monday. A new school year, a new beginning. AND these next four months, September, October, November and December are my favorites out of the whole year. So much hustle and bustle with the new school year and all the holidays and upcoming celebrations. The beauty of fall and winter. I get so excited just thinking about it!! I can't wait to start decorating for Halloween.

Speaking of Halloween, though we skipped last year, we are resuming our traditional Halloween party. Amanda and I have been teaching Kayla to cook so we have put her in charge of the children's menu. She is so into cooking. On Saturday mornings, instead of watching cartoons, she watches the Food Network. She wants one of Paula Dean's cookbooks for Christmas.

On today's list: Continue cleaning bedroom (this includes cleaning out drawers, closets and getting rid of a lot of clutter!). I also need to clean the bathroom and do a load of laundry. Scrap wise, I need to work on a layout for a sketch challenge. I try to stay away from sketches, unless they are my own, only because I like to submit my work. But this is a new site and I am really enjoying being a part of it. Plus the sketch is simple and I have the photo chosen, the journaling complete and an idea of what paper I want to use.

Alrighty then, I need to get back to work, get this part of the day over, so I can GO HOME!

Happy Wednesday!

On My Scrappy List . . .

. . . are two CJ's that need attention. One arrived a little beat up - back cover is off; ribbons and charms are falling off the spiral bind. It's needs some TLC.

I have all of my blossoms for the TreasuredScrapbooking swap bought and boxed. I just need to add postage. I think that catches me up on swaps though I have a nagging feeling that I signed up for a ribbon swap somewhere. Need to look into that!

Need to get serious about Christmas cards!

Not too bad a list. Other to-do's are planning our Annual Halloween and Christmas parties. Mom has called and we began cutting and adding to the Christmas Guest List. Kayla is helping to plan the Halloween party and will doing some of the cooking.

Happy Monday!

What a fabulous weekend! Lil' Ben stayed over Friday night. He is too funny! Saturday, I went to an eight hour beach crop at Your Memory Page. Lots of fun, good company, good eats! I completed five layouts - this is fab for me cause one layout can take up to 4 hours. Discovered My Mind's Eye New Signature Line. OH MY GOSH!! I MUST HAVE ALL OF IT!!!!! I think I bought at least 5 of the lines, used three so far and can't wait til next Friday to buy the rest!!! The store also got in the Basic Grey rub-ons - you know those fancy fleur de lis and scrolls! And they rub-on so nicely!!! Well, I am hoping to upload one of the LO's but looks like Blogger is once again "blogged down". So frustrating!!

Sunday was hot, so Kay and I went to the theater to sit in air conditioning. She chose Barnyard - it was hilarious!!! We had lunch at Red, Hot and Blue. Fabulous Southern fare. I wasn't sure if Kay would like it, but she raved over the BBQ ribs and wants to go back!

Afterwards it was off the The Limited Too for a few clothing items. $106 later - 2 outfits, 1 outfit still needs a tee shirt - can you imagine! We got a pair of denim shorts (on sale, mind you) for $21.99; the skimpy little jeans vest was $36.+; and then she got a pink and white striped skirt and matching shirt. That's it! Amanda is getting K her shoes and I'll buy another outfit on my next pay. If she wouldn't grow so fast it wouldn't be so bad, but when we give her clothes away, they are like brand new!!

Back home, made stuffed shells for dinner and then Melissa picked up K. She was keeping her overnight and taking her to Kennywood today. Nice quiet evening. Ben is at the beach with his Mom and her family for the week.

Now it's back to work. Happy Monday!

School Will Be Back In Session

September 28th. So far, Kayla has a new book bag and one outfit, some socks. We need so much more! This weekend I will be attending our LSS Beach Crop! So looking forward to that! Tomorrow night, I'll have Ben and then he will be going to the beach with his mom and her folks for the week. I have tons of laundry to catch up on. So much scrapping I want to do. Oooh, and at least six rolls of film to have developed. I can't wait til I can afford a digital! Well, I guess that's about it. Our weather is fantastic!!!! Did I mention the zoo last Saturday. It was a members only event. Kay and I went into the Lion's actual area; stood on their rock, checked out where they play all day. Had to walk where they are put in the evening. They are big!!! There are four lions, two sisters and a male and female. The sisters can not be put in the yard the same time as the male/female combo. They do not get along. Kayla was able to touch a possum, some little brown thing, lizards, snakes, stingrays. We had a great time. Got to go inside the animal hospital. It was a behind the scenes thing. So fun!

So Imagine My Surprise. . .

. . . when I made it to Round 3 of the Treasured Hunt! Wow! Am I in shock, and loving every minute of it. Challenge 3 was to use the word Treasure in the title and a few other rules, but I knew right away I was going to make a treasure chest. So this challenge was two new firsts for me: (1) monochromatic; and (2) paper piecing. Here is the result:

I love it. I am worried though that the pink paper is much too dark to be monochromatic, so I may not make it to the next round. Otherwise, it's been such a creative blast!

Kayla has been scrapping so much more and Amanda joined us one evening and scrapped a page of her own.

My other shock was making the first cut of the Effer's Last Scrapper Standing. Out of over 400 so much more talented than me girls, only about 195 went to the second round, me being one of them. The challenge for Dare 2 was to use 13 photos. I did. BUT, where on the first LO I loaded up for the initial Dare, I received 1 comment, this time I have receive none. And I am so not a freestyle scrapper. Mine look too Simple Scrapbooks (which is great for me, that's my style). So, I will not be disappointed when I do not make it to Round 3 (okay, maybe a little). Anyway, here is that LO:

Though I have so much more to post, it's almost quitting time and I have to hit the TTS boards, I am so behind on praise there. And I want to scrap some Elsie and Ali challenges, and then there's the Treasured challenges.

Back in the Groove

Our mini break was so much fun!!! We left Friday morning, beautiful day. In fact the whole weekend was gorgeous, sunny, blue skies. Hot. Got a little sun poisoning, but what has turned to tan looks great! The Living Treasures Zoo Park is totally awesome! You are up close and personal with the animals and most of them eat right out of your hand! They had 17 day old black panthers. Adorable! Potbelly pigs, goats, sheep, tortoise, miniature horses, llamas, a baby grizzly bear, and so much more. We will definitely be going back! Loved the pool down the hall from our hotel room. Spent alot of time there. Beautiful countryside! Saturday we went to Idlewild Park/Storybook Forest. Did it all! Walked, swam, the girls went on some rides, ate. Fun! Fun! Fun! More swimming back at the hotel. Sunday we checked out and went over to Fort Ligionier which I worried the girls would find boring, but they loved it!!!!! Now, it's back to work to make more money so we can go on another mini break!!

My Latest Creation

Yes! Blogger Photo does work! Sheesh, I have been struggling trying to get this loaded. Product Playground's 5th week's theme was an assortment of rub-ons. I really like this layout. These photos were taken just a few weeks ago, Kayla finally gave us the okay to take off the training wheels! She holds on to stuff for so long!! A true pack-rat in the making. She is SO PROUD of herself and we are SO PROUD of her.
Going cropping tonight and to an 8 hour crop tomorrow at the LSS. Can't wait. It is the end of the month and I have SO much to do! Challenges (there are about a dozen); at least 4 more contests; and tons of swaps. And the girls and I are out of town next weekend, so there will be limited scrapping then. I have to come up with a better schedule, the current one is just not working. Between work, housework, and watching grandchildren, I have no me time. Hmmm, it's time to make a new list! I love lists! I love to cross things off. Yes, that's just what I need, a new list. Okay, off to create one! Happy Friday!!

Nothing to Report

Not much going on here. Good weather. The kiddies played in the pool all day yesterday. Amanda kept Ben and Cammi, so Kayla had playmates. I, of course, was here at the office all day. By the time I got home, everyone was gone. But I was too exhausted anyway. At 8:00 I had to apologize to Kayla and go to bed. I started the Weight Watchers points program on Monday and am doing okay, so far. I'll start exercising next week. I sure hope this helps in the energy department. The doc gave me three - six months to lose the weight and then we'll retest the cholesterol. There is no way I am paying for another prescription! Hopefully if we can get the cholesterol down, the TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) will get itself together and the next reading will be on the charts. UGH!

Okay, just rambling. This blogger is sucking lately. Too slow and I can't get any layouts uploaded. Frustrating.

Hey, I really am in a good mood! Hard to tell I know. Okay, I need coffee. I'll be back later with a more positive outlook!!!

Cold Front Has Moved Through

Yep! We had rain and degrees around 70-79. That was our cold front. And it was appreciated! Great weekend!! Scrapping on Friday and then off to Stacey's trailer. What a relaxing weekend! I so needed it. Just sitting around catching up on mags, finishing a book, watching TLC all day Saturday, eating at a great restaurant for lunch on the river (both days!), meeting one of their friends who joined us for a steak dinner, carousing in a golf cart, late evening walk, finally bed. No sleeping in Sunday, just more needed laziness! So indulgent! What a weekend!!!

Then home. And they all survived without me! I worry too much, I know. But mostly that the little ones get fed, and hugged enough, and played with and listened to. All the things that I make sure I do cause I them so much!! Kayla and I just hugged and hugged! I knew she would miss me the most. She didn't leave my side for the rest of the evening. She already called me here at work. I can't wait to go home and hug that little lady. Ben came over, too. He has a new Buzz Lightyear. He is so darn cute (Ben, that is)! Just goes on and on in some language we've never heard. Oooh, and a temper!!! Ugh!

Hope you all had a great weekend!!

I'll Be Missing You, Kayla!

Going scrapping tonight! I will be working with lots of rub-ons (this weeks Product Playground theme); scrapping Kayla riding her bike without training wheels (yea!) and working more on our Florida album. Then I will be going straight to Stacey's trailer for the weekend for good conversation, food, swimming and more scrapping!!! Oh, so many swaps going on at TreasurestoScrap. Exciting!! I've joined the recipe swap; page kit swap; alphabet swap and another CJ. TTS really makes scrapping exciting. Add to that all of their challenges! One busy season!!

Mom and I went to her cousin Theresa's home last night; joined by their cousin Kathy; and sat around the picnic table eating pizza, drinking wine and just kibbitzing. Lovely evening. Then back home to my Kaylabear who I will be MISSING SO MUCH this weekend!!! But, she will be going to the Zoo and having another game night with her Mom, helping Jayme watch Ben, etc. She's such a joy to be with.

Okay, I promised to kick butt at work today, so I better get cracking! Happy Weekend to all!!!

What's Going On?

So, what's going on in your neck of the woods? Woods - that's where I'd like to be right now. In the midst of woods - shaded, cool. We are experiencing temps of 90 degrees plus. I know for some 90 is nothing compared to 100+ and while I like it hot cool evenings would be appreciated. We do not have air conditioning so last night was pretty tough. Okay, enough about that.

Our house was built in 1915. I just discovered this and am thinking of a trip to the Recorder of Deeds to trace its former inhabitants. I think this would make a great scrap page.

Speaking of scrapping, Week 4 of Product Playground (Big Picture Scrapbooking) was playing with chipboard. Boy did I play! I took a 4 x 6 photo and mounted it on a thick 4 x 6 chipboard (covered that with pink WA) and sanded the edges of both the photo and chipboard; did the same with the quote; used a BG Undressed Chipboard Monogram, covered it with pink WA then stamped it using Stampin Up tiny roses stamp and green Colorbox Chalk, sanded the edges; took thin cardstock and cut out letters using Sizzix and used the same technique as with the Monogram. Sewed the pearls to the paper. Added ribbon and flowers. Don't you just love the Wild Asparagus!

Bad weekend. Friday was good, but Saturday I fell into a funky depression. Not good. Glad it does not happen all that often. I think my kids were ready to move out. Had Ben and Kayla. My shining stars! Sunday, Kayla and I packed a lunch and came downtown so she could run in the fountains. This year children need to wear a tee shirt. Some new law. Well, we didn't grab a tee shirt, just shorts, so we came to the air conditioned office and played a bit. Had our lunch outside where there was shade and a breeze from the river. Later, she and Amanda went out to visit Cammi. Tera is starting to show and we figure she is due around February. Let's see, yesterday - work; Kayla rode her bike to the store for a milk and a snack. She is so wonderfully talkative and just blows me away with her grown up way of talking.

Well, I guess that's it. There are so many contests and challenges lately, I have to make a list so I know what to work on this week.

Happy scrapping!

Scrapping Tonight!

Oh yeah! I can not wait until 5:00 p.m. and then Stacey and I are off to Your Memory Page to scrap the night away! Goodie! This week's Product Playground theme is chipboard. I have acquired a goodly sum of chipboard, in part thanks to TTS's fabulous monthly kits; and two BG Undressed Chipboards (monograms and the other is photo turns, hinges, etc.) as fabulous gifts! I have a great idea on how I am going to dress these up without using paint like I usually do. Can't wait to try it! Stopped at CVS on the way in this morning and picked up three rolls of developed film. Yes!! New photos to scrap. A few good ones of Kayla and Amanda in their wedding party finery. Kayla is not smiling in too many of those photos - what a grump; but she is way happy in the photos of her riding her bike without training wheels. Which reminds me, I have some I want to scan and resize. Gotta get busy!

Getting it Down on "Paper"

First off, Happy Birthday, Amanda! My baby is 25 today!!! Her big night out was going to be to a Members Only event at the Zoo, but it has been raining pretty good all day, so I'm thinking Kayla and I will step up the movie theater surprise (we were going to take Amanda to see The Pirates of the Caribbean 2 on Saturday) to tonight.

Okay, I have been wanting to journal this past weekend before I forget, so here is my recap. Friday, hmm, work, oh gosh, how could I forget. Fridays are my big nights out! Scrapping at our LSS. I purchased the store's July Page Contest Kit and worked on that for most of the evening and then worked more on mine and Kayla's 6 x 6 layouts of our Florida vacation. Saturday afternoon, Kayla and I scrapped and got a few more done. This is going to be an ongoing project as I realized on Saturday that we took more rolls than I had initially remembered.

Saturday morning, Kayla and I got up early, dropped off some rentals at Blockbuster, stopped in at Starbucks for early morning Mocha (for me) and Peppermint Hot Chocolate for Kay. Then off to Yankee Candle where Kayla bought her Mom one of those 18 packs of single candles. Kayla had a good time choosing the scents. My Mom and sister joined us for lunch and we had birthday cake. After cleaning off the table, we all played Kayla's electronic UNO Disney. What fun! Then Kayla and I scrapped, and then I took her to Crazy Park where we spent at least 4+ hours. I got to read the latest Creating Keepsakes and she had a good time playing.

Sunday afternoon, Kayla and Amanda and I went to the Zoo where we had lunch. Amanda and I are really into the walking. If we are going to be walking for long hours, we rent a wagon to pull Kayla in. We gave Kayla the camera and she had so much fun taking pictures. Can't wait to see what they look like!

Put Manicotti on for dinner and later pulled out the water colors and a large canvas for Kayla to paint. Good, good weekend!

Paige's Blog Challenge

I am so behind and have so much good stuff to post after this weekend, but that will have to wait til later. Right now, I need to catch up. So, here are the responses to Paige's TTS Blog Challenge:

Here's the down low on the song selection on my Videocure. The songs listed are Kayla's current faves. They do not necessarily reflect the music I would listen to (I do like a lot of it though). She gets such enjoyment of being able to watch her fave songs and I don't mind sharing my blog with her!

1. Do you like music videos on blogs? Why or why not?? I like them. Though I don't watch music videos on tv, I do enjoy them on the pc. I also like seeing what other bloggers have on theirs.

2. What is your favorite all time song and why? I'll Be Around - The Spinners. I love this song. I love the instrumental; this song moves me.
3. What is your favorite current song and why? Hips Don't Lie - Shakira. Love the beat, love the video! Oh, if only I could shake my hips like that!
4. Do you and your significant other have a "song"? I Ain't Missing You At All. I know that's not what the song means - he really does miss her, but in my case - we do not miss each other at all!
5. What song old or new best describes who you are? Well, my Mom always said "Jackie Blue". I can't think off hand who sang this. But one of the lines was "Give her an inch, she'll take a mile."

June's Round Up

June 2006 Round-Up (See The Roundup for details)
What books and/or magazines did I read this month? Magazines! I love magazines. BUT, I am trying to cut back. This past month, besides my usual scrap mags, I read Mary Englebreit's Home Companion and Guideposts. As for books, I read Goodbye Jimmy Choos by Annie Sanders.
What movies and/or tv shows did I watch this month? Kayla and I rented Dark Water and we went to the theater to see Cars. I saw The Break-Up and a production of Grease.
What special days did I celebrate and how? Kayla's 8th birthday was June 11. It fell on a Sunday which was perfect. Amanda and Jayme decorated the dining room with streamers, banners and balloons. Kayla invited over a few friends. My family joined us. After eating cake and opening presents, the girls surprised us all by choosing to watch Nanny McPhee over going outside to play.
What illnesses or health concerns did I have in June? Need to lose weight, but that's every month. Cholesterol is up and of course thyroid is off again. Jayme's viral infection (he's all better). Kayla growth development appointment. Kayla's tonsilitis.
What fun things did I do with my friends and/or family? Hmm, I always have a good time with my family. Let's see, there was the Heinz picnic at Kennywood Park (rides, fireworks, food, Bingo), movies with Kay, Melissa's wedding on June 17, the rehearsal dinner on the 16th. And the everyday things, like it's been raining here a lot, so just walking in the rain with Kayla.
What new foods, recipes or restaurants did I try in June? I didn't cook anything new that I can recall. No new restaurants either. New restaurant for us was Palmeri's; and then just the regulars: Christos, Aladdins, and Kayla's favorites: Applebee's and Eat-n-Park.
What special or unusual purchases did I make? Nothing unusual. No new scrapping tools; nothing new for the house. New clothes for all of us though. (Used the wedding, the rehearsal dinner and Kennywood as excuses).
What were this month’s disappointments? Joey and Tera's behavior. Amanda's inability to see what a crud Kayla's father is. Knowing the car would need a lot to pass inspection. Jayme moving back home. I mean, when is it my time?????
What were my accomplishments this month? (1) Being June GDT for TreasurestoScrap. Such an honor!!! (2) Scrapped more. Am closer to my goal of 50 layouts for the year. Had I known that I would be scrapping almost every Friday night, I would have set this higher. No matter.
Anything else noteworthy to record about June? All in all, June was a good month. Got caught up on all the bills but the light and still chipping away at the real estate taxes. The school year ended and Kayla will be going on to second. Also discovered this cool site for staying up with scrap contests and what is due when: Pub's Calendar.

Today is my Friday (it's really Thursday)

Well, I mean at work. Today is my Friday cause I have tomorrow off! Yes!! My sister works for Heinz and it is their annual company picnic and they always have it at Kennywood Amusement Park. Jayme is working so I will be taking Ben (Kiddieland is more my speed these days anyway) and we are taking a little friend for Kayla who will be riding with her Mom on all the big rides. My whole family goes so we have a real good time. And gorgeous weather is predicted!

And I am off til next Wednesday! I have so much planned (I probably won't get a thing done). I am still purging all the stuff in my bedroom. I do have a path from the door to the computer and the bed to the alarm clock. Progress! Oooh, but I have lots of laundry and I promise I am going to have that completely done (and put away) by next Tuesday. For sure!

I received the goodies I ordered from the TTS store yesterday and I have so much I want to scrap. I would like to finish the 6 x 6 mini book I am making of our 2005 Florida vacation. Kayla is going to help so that will be fun!

Happy weekend everyone!!

Sick, Sick, Sick

So, early Tuesday morning and I am talking early - 2:00 a.m., Jayme decides to go to the Shadyside ER. He had a temp for at least four days and looked pretty bad. So, off we go with him hanging out the window puking the first half of the trip. Get to the ER, only two other persons there, hooray, we will be in and out. No, they put a 7 hour IV in him, take blood, take abdominal x-rays and then we sit, and sit, and sit. And the room is freezing!! As it happens, three cardiac arrests came in after us and they take precedence, as they should. After lots of IV fluid and meds, Jayme looked much better. His diagnosis - extremely dehydrated and stomach flu. He is doing much better now.

So, last night, Kayla is complaining there is something in her throat. I look, groan, get a flashlight, yep, she has tonsillitis. Swollen tonsils, big white spots. Am calling the docs today.

On the bright side of all of this, I was able to scrap . Love that Junkitz Salsa. I have been into paint and foam stamps alot lately. And rubber stamping, too. I didn't think I'd use the Basic Grey Undressed Chipboard, but I was wrong. Love it!!!

Monday, June 26, 2006

Good Morning Monday!

Okay, Friday was Kayla's second growth development appointment. She definitely will have the growth plate operation around the age of 11. The good news is that we have another 3 years of prayers that she grows taller. Right now she is on the short side and when they cut the growth plate, that's it, she will be whatever height she is then for the rest of her days. So, prayers, please!

Went scrapping Friday night and found the cutest 6 x 6 album. It has a bare cover for decorating and it's binder form so I can add, add, add all the pages I need. So, I am finally scrapping our 2005 Florida vacation. This book is perfect and I love the 6 x 6 size. Cute!

The rest of the weekend was uneventful. Ben stayed over. He is such a good little guy. Amanda and I and Kayla and Ben went to the Pittsburgh Zoo Saturday. It was a hot day! But it was good to be out walking. I calculate at least 30 pounds I need to lose. And I am going to!!!! Later that evening, Kayla and I took Ben for a walk until Kayla's ankle started to hurt and the we headed back home.

Sunday was a grey, muggy day. Ben went home, Kay picked a movie for us to watch. Then we made lunch and set up the tray tables on the porch and ate there. Wine glasses and all. (Pink Lemonade). She loves that stuff! Later we walked in the drizzling rain. Made stuffed shells for dinner. Good, quiet day. Got a lot of laundry done. But no scrapping (pout). And I have so much to do! This week, for sure!

Well, I am off to catch up on some of my favorite blogs! Have a good Monday!

Thursday, June 22, 2006

My sweet girl. This is a layout she recently did of her first day of kindergarten. She even used the Fastenator. Her embellies are Jolee's. I love how this child's mind works.

It's been a good week . . . so far!

It has been a good week so far. Last night, Kay and I had blt's and watched her favorite - reruns from the first year of Laverne & Shirley. She loves these! I fell asleep and didn't wake til 10:30. Washed the dishes, filled the tub for Kay's bath, started laundry. Go to get Kayla and she is sound asleep. My fault. So then I cleaned off my computer desk and made a list of the supplies I want to take with to crop tomorrow night.

Right after work I am going to see The Break-Up at the theater in Squirrel Hill. I would have liked to have saved this date for next week cause I have SO MUCH to do. More laundry, pack my croppin' bag, spend quality time with Kayla, and prepare her (and me) for the doc's appointment Friday morning, oh, and so many other little things I want to do before turning in for the night. I definitely need more hours!!!! No, more energy.

Went blog visiting today (a favorite pasttime) and found this on Liz Eaton's blog: The Anywhere Studio. I am always looking for creative inspiration. Thought this sounded interesting, signed up for the newsletter.

Speaking of classes, (were we?) Product Playground Week at Big Picture Scrapbooking began today. The first product we will be using are bookplates. She also included a sketch and I've been thinking of ideas all day. Can't wait to get started on this!

I put my first order in at the TreasurestoScrap store. They just opened this past week and it's all so exciting. If you are in the neighborhood, stop and shop!!!! I am loving thier page kits. I've decided to scrap with page kits from now on. This way here, I will always be up on the latest pp; cardstock and embellies and not have too much of anything sitting around. So, this weekend I am going to really purge my scrapping area. When I think of all the pp I have that I will never use, ugh! The local LSS will take it and donate it to a women's shelter and that's cool!

Okay, I must, must make an appointment to have the car inspected before it is too late. Later!

Grease!

Went to see Grease at the Benedum last night. It was good! Funny! Seats were great! Eleven rows from the stage, dead center. Ate at Christos Mediterranean Grill - love his Jackie Onassis! The night before was dinner at Benihana. Yum! Yum! Tonight is (drumroll) BLT's in the kitchen. Ta Da!

Oh, I can't wait to go scrapping Friday night. I am itching to get my hands on some paper and embellies!!! I think I get Ben tonight and I must do laundry.

Kayla is so loving Church camp! No fights getting her up in the morning. Her second growth development appointment with the ortho is this Friday. I have a list of questions for him!

Let's see, the newlywed went swimming with the dolphins yesterday and Melissa celebrated her 22nd birthday. Amanda's birthday is coming up fast. She will be 25.

I booked a room for Kayla and I at the Ramada Historic Ligonier. This hotel offered the best Idlewood/Storybook Forest package. I added on a third night. Ahh, room service. Can't wait!

What a Weekend!

It was a fabulous weekend. It started early, Thursday to be exact, with the kick-off of treasurestoscrap's birthday crop. What a great crop! So much fun and action!! The girls and I went to Dress Barn in the evening as we needed new outfits for the rehearsal dinner (any excuse for new clothes!!) Friday was the rehearsal dinner. Saturday morning I dropped the girls off at Melissa's where they were having their hair and make-up done. Then off to Sears with Jayme to buy him new clothes and shoes. Home for a shower and to get dressed and then off to the church where I helped the bride and my girls with any finishing touches. The ceremony was lovely and my girls were breathtaking! (Photos soon!) It was 91 degrees and the church was even hotter. During pictures, Melissa (the bride) became overcome with heat and had to lay down. Plied with root beer and crackers she was ready for the cool ride in the limo to the reception hall. Good food, dancing and fun! Sunday, Kayla and I went to the theater to see Cars. We didn't stay for the whole film (I wanted to) cause Kay was bored. So I put her in the Eagle's Nest and grocery shopped instead. Stopped at Target to see if they at any MM paints but they didn't. Back home, Ben was waiting for us. And that's pretty much the weekend. Now, I am back at work, Kay's at Bible Camp and all's right with our world.

Best or Worst Birthday Challenge

Dum de dum de dum. (Thinking) Okay, oh, this last birthday. December 10, 2005. Yes that was the worst. (The one and only) See, my Mom always buys us clothes and she has good taste and picks the right outfit and I love getting new clothes. This last birthday, she got me a T-shirt that said New York & Co. and a pair of cropped jeans. I never hurt my Mom's feelings (that's my sister's job) but I was so bummed. I said Mom, are you sure you were buying for my birthday cause this outfit is totally meant for Cathy (my sister). You know I own no shirts with sayings and when did you ever see me wear cropped jeans??? I am a sweater set and slacks kind of girl (I know, so 50's). Cathy ONLY buys t-shirts with sayings and logos and cropped pants. So I gave the outfit to my sister and my Mom got me a sweater set for Christmas.

Forgive me for sounding spoiled and for whining. I was ashamed of my behavior and I did apologize to my Mom.

Now, let me tell you about the time I got flannel underwear for Christmas . . . (Mom is still here; hubby 2 is not!)

Kayla is 8!

She's officially 8! Yesterday was her birthday and she was such a delight! She enjoyed her party and all of the gifts she received were a huge hit! Last night, while she was laying in bed she stretched herself out and asked if it looked like she grew. Hilarious!

She helped me scrapped this weekend. I was working on a layout for Angela's stamp challenge over at TTS and she put the paint on each foam stamp for me so that I could work faster on the background. The challenge is to make the stamp the focal point. Here are the results:

Speaking of TTS, please remember to come on over for the crop starting Thursday, June 15th. You can find everything you need to know and also meet some great people here:

    Ten Things About Me Challenge

This is for the Ten Things Blog Challenge at Treasures to Scrap.

    1. I love to read. Barnes & Nobles is my favorite store. I can spend hours in there (and I do). I can drop (and have) $80.00 in a 15 minute visit. I read twice a day - on the bus to work and on the bus home.

    2. I get up an hour before I need to just to have time to myself. I like to have morning coffee sitting in one of my wicker chairs in my room looking out the window. I am on the third floor of this old house and it's so peaceful up here. That is my time. Once the day starts, between Kayla and Ben, I don't even go to the bathroom by myself. I really gotta get that lock fixed!

    3. I love to go to the movies. Though lately everything I see is animated, I still love going. I love the big screen and the smell of popcorn. And I love that for that 1 1/2 - 2 hours there are no distractions. No phone ringing. Nobody trying to get your attention. Just you and the big screen.

    4. I hate shopping. I hate shopping for groceries and I hate shopping for clothes. I can usually talk Amanda into going grocery shopping (okay, I bribe her most times).

    5. I love my job! Love it! I am a paralegal/admin assistant to a construction attorney. He is rather long-winded so I do ALOT of typing every day. But I love it! Okay, I don't like the filing part so much, but I like drafting the complaints and answers. And I enjoy our clients. Working in construction and for contractors is also a bit of a perk. When the furnace stopped working last winter, who did I call? A client. He also does the plumbing here too. Another put in windows and since we now have a few electricians as clients, I am hoping to get a great price on re-wiring this big old house. After all, it's who you know!

    6. I love, love, love my grandchildren!!! I love spending time with them; getting their point of view; seeing life through their eyes. They are fun and sweet and adorable!!!! And I can send them all home (Kayla downstairs) when they are not being fun and sweet and adorable!!!!

    7. I love chicken, baked, fried, grilled. It's my favorite food. That plus lots of lettuce. And a little olive oil. Yes, I am definitely a chicken and salad person.

    8. My favorite Starbuck's beverage is a Grande White Mocha with Skim Milk. It's my first stop before work most mornings.

    9. I go to church every weekday. There is a church down the street from work that I pass each day and at one time never even noticed. One year, on a Friday, when life wasn't so good and I was in debt and oh, I was just too depressed and didn't know what I was going to do and terrible thoughts were circling my mind, I "noticed" this church. I went in, prayed, prayed and prayed some more, and this peace just came over me and I knew everything was going to be better. And it has been. So, I go to church almost every day (not Saturdays) and give thanks, and pray. Sometimes I even pray for patience so that the attorneys I work for are still alive at the end of the day. (Smile)

    10. I have been married twice. I don't like it.

    Going Croppin'

Tonight! Tonight! Tonight! Can't wait. My poor bag is way overstuffed. High hopes I have and I won't even make a dent as usual. However, for Angela's stamp challenge at TTS, Kayla and I stamped the background last night so all I have to do is add a photo and some embellies. So many contests in the wings, too! So, I have my list and am ready!!!! Friday already! This weekend we have a picnic to go to on Saturday and Kayla's birthday party is Sunday. And the weather is supposed to be warm and dry but 40 degrees in the evening - good sleeping weather. Well, happy cropping!

    It's Official!

I am going to by a Grandma again! Joey and Tera are expecting. Joey told me on Monday, but Tera isn't ready to announce it until she has gone to the doc's so only I know. Oh, and now you know, too.

So, I don't think I'll have my altered project done before tomorrow to enter the MME contest, but hey, there is next year (maybe). It is beautiful outside today. I can't wait to get out of this office! Kayla and I scrapped together and here is her latest creation. I love this child and I am so glad she likes to take pictures and scrapbook.

Boss is off the phone, gotta go!!

    Don't Forget to Join Us!!!!

    STILL SCRAPPIN!

On fire! Can't wait to get home and begin scrapping some more!! I have so many ideas: want to make a paper bag album of our Florida vacation; new layouts and more Christmas cards. I also need to get my Friday night bag packed for scrapping at the LSS. I also want to pick up one of those new BG Matchbook kits and try one of those. So anyway, here are two new projects. Both were done for TTS June Challenges. For the PLAY BALL title work, I saw this technique in a British scrapbook mag and just had to try it! It looks pretty cool! This layout was for Kim's 'doodle circles and lines' challenge.

This card was for Terry's card sketch challenge. As Kayla's BD is June 11, it was a perfect sketch for her BD card.

So on the homefront, Kayla will be finishing up school this week. We have been getting the house ready for her birthday party. She invited 16 girls and her little Uncle David (he is 5 and loves her so much!). Next week we will be busy with last minute details before Melissa's wedding. Dresses have been altered, but I think Kayla needs one more fitting and she and Amanda both need their hair done. Jayme needs new pants and shoes and I, well, I have no idea what I need. I'll panic the morning of and be running around foolishly.

The rain has stopped (finally) and the Three Rivers Art Festival is going on. I think I'll walk through it at lunch.

Hope you are all having a scrapping good time!!

    It's June!

    Already!

I thought of a challenge to post at TTS. Ooh, and Kimberly came up with a great doodle challenge I am excited to get working on. I have yet to doodle so this will be a first.

Took Kayla out on her bike last night (took the camera, too!). Hope the photos turn out.

Thunder last night and Kay and I were watching music videos on the PC. So, I did what I always do - get out the candles, just in case. Lit a wooden match, it broke, the lit end fell in my lap and my nightie caught fire! I jumped and the match fell to the floor. Luckily, everything was okay, except for a burned hole along the hem of the nightie. It was scary!!! So, this weekend, I am going to go buy some of those Bic or Flair lighters that have the long ends.

Wrote out invites for Kay's 8th BD party (June 11). I was hoping she would take my suggestion, invite 3-4 girls and we could go to the movies and see "Cars". Nope, she wants a party at home and invited 16 girls. So, I'm cleaning this weekend!

And scrapping! Scrapping! Scrapping! Scrapping! I have so many ideas. And I want to post my June challenge on TTS but think I should make a layout first. I hope it turns out. And I can't wait to do Kim's challenge.

Fun! Fun! Fun! Now, back to work! Oh, but speaking of fun, above right is a layout I did just for fun. Kayla was being silly with my Mom's (her Nan's) glasses.
