It Was a Merry Christmas!

Our ever happy Cammi.

Kayla, who is so much fun to watch, she wears all emotion on her face.

Jade amidst an ever growing pile of presents.

Ben, who didn't care what was under all the pretty Christmas paper, he just wanted to open presents - all of them!

Are We Done Yet?

With the wrapping and cleaning, baking and cooking? Heck, NO! That's what the weekend is for! And I am rearing to get started. Though I have a feeling I am going to be at the office late tonight. Hence, my driving in and parking downtown.

This is Jade, my youngest Granddaughter. She was visiting the other evening. Such a busy little one.

We had Ben again last night. If you think being 2 is a terror, meet 3. He is too much!!!! Luckily Frosty the Snowman was on and that kept his attention (for a little while at least).

Kayla had Christmas with her Dad last night. Guess what he got her? A musical Hannah Montana Doll. That's 1 of 3 of those dolls that she will be receiving this year. She also got an educational laptop, some accessories for her baby dolls, a Pet Shop bunny and clothes. She came home very happy.

The workload is piling up. Have a great Friday!

Food Glorius Food!

Cold weather and cooking, ah, yes! I love to cook when it's cold out. Chili, Potato Soup, Fresh Baked Bread, Brownies, mmm mmm good. Now that the Christmas menus are set, Kayla and I are working on the New Year's menus. For the Eve we are thinking of Cranberry Meatballs, a Hot Cheese Dip, Favorite Deviled Eggs, a Fruit Dip, Chicken Enchiladas, and Chocolate Marshmallow Bars. For the Day, Tossed Broccoli Salad, Golden Potato Surprise, Sweet n' Sour Chops and that's as far as we've gotten. Kayla loves watching the Food Network. In particularly, Alton Brown, any cook-offs, and the Iron Chef. Mom is giving her a cookbook for Christmas and we vowed to assist her in cooking weekend meals this coming year.

This is Amanda holding the picture frame she scrapped. I am so proud of her. It's a lovely piece of work. I have been scrapping, I just have to get it uploaded. Using Basic Grey's Half Pint (12 x 6) chipboard book, some Heidi Grace winter papers and embellies, I scrapped the girls sled-riding. I also finally finished the Visit to Santa album. For that I used Maya Road's heart shape chipboard book and Daisy D's Christmas paper. I say finally because it was back in 2006 of November that I had cut all my heart shaped papers and cropped the photos. When I signed up for a mini crop in November 2007, I chose what I was going to scrap, packed wisely, and completed the two albums and a 1 page layout (I need to finish the 2nd page, but all the papers are cut and the photos cropped, gee, sounds familiar). Amanda and I really need to set aside some time this weekend to scrap the School Albums for the girls. I was hoping to have Cammi's ready for Christmas, but I don't see it happening. We had Ben last night and will have him again tonight, I still need to pick up two gifts, wrap a truckload, clean, bake and cook.

He's growing! The little man is now 14 days old. He is so adorable. Kayla continues to be a wonderful helper. Brendan has had many visitors this week. All of his cousins have now met him, Ben loved him and kept saying "my baby". Jade wasn't too sure. Cammi held him, but was more content to play.

Well, I've got files to open. Cleaning and cooking lists to make. The cable company to argue with and the countdown to quitting time. Have a Happy Thursday!

Let It Snow!

Please! Yes, we want a White Christmas. Even if its just a dusting. This photo was taken earlier this year. It's Kayla and her Snowgirl. I need to upload new photos taken this week, but none will be of any snowmen or snowgirls. Not so far this week.

I thought I was done shopping and then I remembered my boss, and Kayla's teachers. We bought bookmarks for two of them but she has two others to buy for. Oh, no, lottery tickets for my folks (not my idea - they asked for them). I am hoping to complete that task tonight. Along with Kayla's room, my room, the halls, yada, yada, yada. I did work on the house some more last night, but we have too much stuff. And I've been purging! I can't seem to make a dent!

Are you working on your Christmas journal ala Shimelle? I bought the papers and embellies and have journaled every day. I just need to put it all together. I've really gotten into it this year. I'll post as I complete the project.

We picked up one of those acrylic picture frames and Amanda covered it with some adorable Rusty Pickle paper, Jolee's baby embellies, and little buttons. Then she added Brendan's photo, adorable! I am so proud of her! She is now working on a Trick or Treating book for Kayla. And together we are making Kayla and Cammi those School license plate books. Cammi's was to be for Christmas but I don't see that happening.

On our list of movies to see this Holiday: I Am Legend, P.S. I Love You and Alvin and the Chipmunks.

Okay, I need to go, just taking a small break. Have a great day!!!

Tuesday, December 18, 2007

That's how many pounds I have lost since October 9, 2007. Woo Hoo!! That's the best Christmas gift I could give to myself! I now have 10 more to go to reach goal.

The closer we get to Christmas, the more excited I get. I love this time of year!!! Tonight, I need to finish up the bedrooms, Kayla's playroom and the hallways. And of course, more laundry. I also need to start wrapping gifts.

Kayla and I snuggled together and watched the DVD "The Karate Kid". My own loved this film when they were younger - still do. I knew Kayla would like it and she did. I also have on deck, "The Holiday" and "The Da Vinci Code". Book wise I just finished The 5th Horseman by James Patterson and I am looking forward to starting "Julie and Julia" by Julie Powell.

Work beckons. Have a fab Tuesday!!

Monday, December 17, 2007

This is it! The last week before the big day(s). Are you ready? I have to finish cleaning the house. Of course. But I really worked at it yesterday and its all coming together. Saturday morning was spent grocery shopping. Amanda and I only forgot a few things that she will pick up later this week. The menus are set, the invitations and Christmas cards have been mailed and I just have a few gifts yet to wrap. And we got some snow. Not a lot, not even close to what was predicted. Though the wind was pretty rough.

The baby is doing well. So adorable! Kayla is such a good helper. She is so ready for Christmas. We have been reading Christmas books every night before bed. Wednesday is the Santa store at school. Tonight she will be making her shopping list.

Well, office work beckons. Enjoy your Monday!

Kayla and her Mom.

The Menu

Orange Juice
Assorted Teas
Old Fashioned Hot Chocolate
Apricot Pecan Biscuit Pull-Apart
Apple Cinnamon Swirl Bread
Festive Breakfast Casserole
Potatoes Au Gratin
Sugar Cane Baked Ham with Spiced Apples and Pears
Fresh Fruit
Christmas Cookies
This is the menu I have planned for our Christmas Eve Brunch. Do you think it's enough? My biggest fear any time I entertain is that I will not have enough food. So seriously, do you think I am missing anything? The ham is a recipe of Emeril Lagasse. I found it at the Food Network website. The Apricot Pecan Biscuit recipe was found at Pillsbury's website and the Festive Breakfast Casserole I found in a cookbook put out by Roomful Express. The Old Fashioned Hot Chocolate is right on the side of the Hershey's Cocoa can. I have made this for my children forever and they still ask for it when they come over. The assorted teas are tins I picked up from a Starbucks located in Barnes & Noble. The White Christmas tea is delightful with vanilla and almonds. The Holiday Spice tea is just that - spicy goodness. Now I need to make up a shopping list. I've already wrote down the gift certificates I need to purchase this week. Once that is done, I just need to wrap, wrap, wrap. The Christmas cards will go out by Tuesday (late this year) and I think I only have 2 mail orders yet to be received. Otherwise, it's just baking and shopping from here on out.

On the homefront, Brendan is doing well. He is so tiny and sweet. Kayla has been a big help. Such a good big sister, though she is coming down with a cold as I write. It has been quite wet here again this week. Lots of rain.

Well, I will end here as it is almost quittin' time. Hope your day was special!

The Tree is Up

The tree. Always, we always have a crooked tree. Ah, that just makes it all the more endearing and memorable. There are only a portion of ornaments up. We have boxes full but this tree will surely not hold all of them. The snowflakes are made by Kayla. She cuts until her little hands hurt, but she loves making these paper snowflakes.

She made these tissue wrap ornaments last year:

Every year we have her make a new ornament. I just love them. Amanda wasn't too happy that we brought out her toilet paper roll Santa Claus. That ornament is about 17 years old. How could we not include him. Or the macaroni picture frame? These are what makes our tree.

The painting on the wall behind the tree is a Kayla Original. My budding artist. I have another of a flower in a vase sitting on a chair.

The baby is doing well. He is a little darling.

Our 7th Annual Ornament Exchange was a lot of fun. Good food, lot's of laughter. What a joy to have everyone together. Now, I am working on our Christmas Eve Brunch. Brunch will be a new thing for us this year. I usually do a lunch and have the family over. Thought we'd try something new. Make new foods.

I lost another 1.2 for a total of 18 lbs. I made my 10% goal, now it's on to the goal itself. Not too easy with all these Holiday cookies and candies.

I hope you and yours are enjoying this most special time of year! Have a great Wednesday!

He's Here!

Brendan Christopher has arrived. Weighing in at 8'2", 21 1/2" long, Brendan was born at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 6th. Here he is with this big sister, Kayla. This photo was taken within minutes after his birth. Mother is doing well and I expect them both home tomorrow morning.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas in these here parts. We've got snow and it's still snowing. Not a whole lot of accumulation but I'm loving the whole White Christmas feel.

This was taken early one morning this week in Market Square, downtown, PA.

And the next one was PPG Square. This is the only time of year, downtown looks so pretty.

Tonight is our Office Christmas party at Ciao, Baby's. I am looking forward to it. In fact, I lost enough weight to wear a jacket/skirt combo. Yeah, me!! Of course, I am only half weight to my goal, but my clothes are fitting so much better!!

Tomorrow has been reserved for baking and cleaning. Sunday is our 7th Annual Ornament Exchange party and I have tons to do!!! Sunday is the cookie exchange at Church.

Well, I have a few things to wrap up here before quitting time. Hope all of you are well!!

Stay safe! Happy weekend!!

This Wonderful Life!

I was worried how the girls would react to a one man show, but "This Wonderful Life" delighted and astounded each of us. An entertaining twist on Frank Capra's "It's A Wonderful Life", one truly amazing and talented actor plays George Bailey, Clarence the Angel, Mary, Old Man Potter, Zuzu, and twenty more of Bedford Falls' finest citizens. We never moved in our seats. Our eyes were riveted to the stage. We truly enjoyed this show, the girls so much so, that they requested season tickets to other productions. IF you get a chance this Season, scoot on down to the O'Reilly Theater on Penn Avenue and purchase a few tickets. You will not be disappointed!

Half Way to the Weekend

Hooray! I lost 3 more lbs. last week for a total of 14 in 5 weeks. Yes!!! And I am enjoying my meals so much more and actually crave popcorn and tortilla chips (just a few) with salsa. I still have my weekly Starbucks so I am not missing out on anything. Anyway, one more pound and I'm halfway there.

Are you thinking of entering CK's HOF this year or have you been turned off by all of the bad publicity? I think about it every year and will think about it again this year.

Bad Girls is having a Christmas Workshop this weekend that I am really looking forward to. If you get a chance, check it out.

Thanksgiving is next week!!!!! Too soon! I was hoping to be more organized, more prepared this year, but it's not happening. I don't even have my Ornament Exchange Invites out yet. Yikes! I guess I'd better get moving.

Happy Wednesday!

Two of my favorite girls playing up to the camera for me.

I Love B&N!

Barnes & Noble. I love, love, love that store!! It's my favorite and then Yankee Candle. I also love Christmas books and buy a few new ones for myself and the kiddies every year. On this year's list for Kayla are these:

The Olivia series are adorable and the I Spy's are entertaining fun for all ages. For Ben, who loves Elmo, I couldn't pass up this one:

And for me, this one:

I have already started reading this one, it's not too long, but will definitely be starting a few Christmas jars of my own next year.

Happy reading!

A Little This and That

Election Day yesterday. Did you vote? Actually, I didn't. Remembered too late.

Here is a photo (it's late) of Kayla in her Halloween finery. She was Queen, Killer Queen according to her, hence the black lipstick.

So many projects so little time. Bad Girls is having a Christmas Workshop the weekend of November 17th. The supply list came out yesterday. So much good stuff!!! I also signed up for the Make It Merry class at Big Picture Scrapbooking, The Technique Class and the Pocket Album at Scrap-A-Faire. And then Shimelle is repeating her awesome Christmas Journal class. I am in Holiday Scrap Heaven!!!!

We had a few snow flurries last night. Kayla was so excited! Wonder if we will have a white Christmas.

On my to do list is helping Amanda write her thank you notes, sending out the Ornament Exchange invites, putting up the crib and getting Amanda's room ready for the baby's arrival, pack for out-of-town crop and a host of other chores.

Here are Cammi and Ben "talking on the phone". The fascination my grandkiddies have with a phone, real or play! Scary signs of whats to come when they hit their teens.

But for now, I need to run to the bank. Have a great Wednesday!

I'm a Slacker

I am. Been in a slump lately. Can't explain it. Work is busy, way busy! And at home, we are turning the house upside down for the new baby's arrival. Amanda's baby shower was Saturday and she received lots of great gifts. Big stuff too - crib, pack n' play, high chair, stroller, car seat. Believe it or not - only 1 pack of diapers and no bottles. I laugh cause that used to be the mainstay of baby showers. Costco here I come. Seriously, we are very grateful for the fabulous gifts. People are so generous!

I have been in a serious mini-album scrap mode lately. I am loving the mini-albums! I made one of the kids at the pumpkin farm and then one as a gift for Joey and Tera of Jade's arrival (she was only 3 hours old). I've started a Christmas 2004 heart shaped album (yes, I am way behind on scrapping Christmases). I just saw the Basic Grey half pint albums - awesome. Told the LSS to hold a few for me. I hope to have quite a few mini-albums finished before Christmas.

Thanks to all of you who stop by my blog and leave a comment. I really appreciate it.

The Steelers are playing in town tonight (hmm, not that it means much in our household of only girls) and the weather forecast is calling for snow flurries and rain. SNOW FLURRIES!! We may have a white Christmas after all!!!

Ooooh, gotta call home! Be sure to vote tomorrow. Have a happy Monday!!!

Wednesday, October 24, 2007

We had a fabulous day at the Pumpkin Farm on Sunday. The weather was fabulous, actually it was down right hot. Sunny and gorgeous! Most of the gang went, Mom, Amanda, Kayla, Cathy, Mike, Melissa, Jessica and Cammi. We bought about $71.00 worth of pumpkins. That's our load in the wagon minus a whole lot of little ones that the girls picked up on the way to check-out. After loading the pumpkins in the various cars, we then went to the bakery and farmer's market. Of course we bought apple cider and pumpkin butter. I also bought some snow white cauliflower, an avocado, some tomatoes and for Kayla, fudge and cashews. It was a lovely day.

Still working on the diet. Weigh-in was yesterday. What a struggle. Especially since Amanda has been away house-sitting. Kayla and I have eaten out almost every night. Tsk. Tsk.

Our Halloween party is Sunday. I have so much to do to get ready. Saturday will be busy cleaning and cooking.

Oh, Christmas shopping - coming along nicely! I've ordered most of the children's gifts and everything should be coming in the mail within the next few weeks. That leaves just the money gifts. I scrapped Joey and Tera a mini book of Jade when she was just about 3 hours old. I used a kit from Lasting Impressions and it turned out really cute.

This month has gone too fast. We haven't even decorated too much.

Well, I hope you all have a Happy Wednesday!!

Fabulous challenge!! I am looking forward to the next one.

It's Friday, again!

Can't believe it has taken me a week to blog. I am so busy lately. Weight Watchers started at the office. Our office pays for any employee who would like to join. There are quite a few of us this round so we are having our own Biggest Loser Contest and the prize is money. As I have a closet full of too tight clothes, I am going to do this. Weigh-ins are Tuesdays. We took before photos. I'll have to get mine and post it. I am looking forward to the after photo.

It got quite cold here this week. Not cold enough for winter coats, but close. Tomorrow is the Church's rummage sale - Kayla looks forward to this twice a year. She is our little shopper.

I've got to check out Babies R Us and order Amanda's baby gift. Ohhh, I am such a procrastinator. Which is what I have done all week and now I am behind on two layouts that need loaded this weekend.

I have so much to do this weekend and I have made a list and am not stopping until it is all done. Okay, that was your joke for today.

Have a fabulous weekend!!

It's Friday!!

Hooray!! So much to do this weekend. Ben and Jayme are staying over tonight and then tomorrow I pick up Joey and Cammi and off to the mountains we head. Must decorate this weekend - must!!

I am so loving this layout. It's for the first challenge in Croppin' Cousinz' Tricks or Treats Challenge. The assignment was to scraplift a layout, I chose one by Amy Welch and this is the result.

The Farmer's Market was in town yesterday. I bought fresh green spinach, ripe red tomatoes and shiny green peppers. Mmmm, Mmmm!

Loved Earl and The Office last night. I look forward to watching those every week. Well, I'm off to read some blogs.

Happy Friday and have a great weekend!

There is no season when such pleasant and sunny spots
may be lighted on, and produce so pleasant an effect on
the feelings, as now in October.
- Nathaniel Hawthorne

Not a great title I know. Coming up with a title is like journaling on a layout for me - not happening! I think maybe I need to take a writing class.

It's a new day. I went home with such a migraine yesterday that I went from the front door to bed. Woke up at 10:30 to see the girls before they settled in for the night, had some zucchini, just picked from Mrs. Murphy's garden, and then back to bed. What a waste!!! Migranes for me are like seizures - they leave you drained and shaky the next day.

Tonight Kayla, I promise, we will go through the Halloween boxes, pop some corn and then settle in to watch Earl and The Office.

It will be 85 degrees here today. Wow!!

Congrats to all who made it to the 2nd round in the Dares Last Scrapper Standing Contest.

I need to go check out the remaining girls added to ScrapMojo's new design team. Some awesome talent there. I also need to get my layout done for the first challenge of Croppin' Cousinz Tricks or Treats contest. Busy, busy.

Also, Ali's blog led me here. Fascinating!! I am starting my life list today.

Have a fabulous Thursday!!!

Ahhhhh, October 3!

Ahhhh, October! Decorating the house, the leaves are changing colors, frost-covered pumpkins, the scent of wood-burning stoves, the search for the perfect costume, taffy apples. Ahhhh, October!
A Lovely Poem
Crispy air and azure skies,
High above, a white cloud flies,
Bright as newly fallen snow.
Oh the joy to those who know October!

Colors bright on bush and tree.
Over the weedy swamp, we see
A veil of purple and brown and gold.
Thy beauty words have never told. October!

Scolding sparrows on the lawn,
Rabbits frisking home at dawn,
Pheasants midst the sheaves of grain,
All in harmony acclaim, October!

Brown earth freshly turned by plow,
Apples shine on bended bough,
Bins o'erflowed with oats and wheat,
And satisfaction reigns complete. October!

Radiant joy is everywhere.
Spirits in tune to the spicy air,
Thrill in the glory of each day.
Life's worth living when we say, October!

~Joseph Pullman Porter

Have a lovely October day!

Tuesday, October 2, 2007

Ahhhhh, October!

It's time to decorate!! Looking forward to going home this evening and pulling out the Halloween decorations. Kayla is so looking forward to this, too. We have collected quite a few skeletons, witches and black cats over the year. My Father is a huge fan of Halloween and it has rubbed off on my kids. I also need to begin planning our annual Halloween party. This year it will be on the 28th. We usually have Chili which my Mom is requesting again this year. And I always like to try something new. I'm thinking maybe a pumpkin cheesecake. Yum.

It's beautiful here in Pittsburgh, not too cold, not too warm, just perfect!! We will be driving up to the mountains this coming weekend, and I hope to get some gorgeous fall photos.

Hope you are having a lovely Tuesday!!

Good Weekend

Adorable make-n-takes featured at Happy Scrappin' Scrapbooking this weekend. I completed those but not enough of the challenges to win any of the fantastic prizes. Friday, I stopped at the LSS with the girls and then we went to dinner. Saturday, my sister came over and all of us spent too long a day shopping. Whipped up a lazagna, salad and garlic bread though and had a great dinner. Sunday was Church, Open House and a Party Lite party at Phylis's house. Whew! And the weather was and still is great. I hear 80 degrees for today, October 1!!!! I am only hoping it continues through the weekend as I am taking Cammi, Jade and Kayla to Hallowbaloo at Idlewild.

Well, its a new month, new challenges, new contests. I'm off to check it all out!

Happy Monday!

Quick Hello

and off I go cause it's Friday! Tons to do at the office; tons to do after work and then hopefully scrapping along with Happy Scrappin' Scrapbooking! Hooray! Of course, I planned on just scrapping all weekend - no outside distractions, but I have a stop to make after work tonight, a candle light party Sunday afternoon, company tomorrow. It's always like that when I plan. So, anyhoo, I hope everyone has a fun weekend!!!

Their 50th!

This is my Mom and Dad. They celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary on the 14th. Congrats Mom and Dad.

Tough day at the office. Whew! And now it's getting late. I have one load of laundry to finish and then I was hoping to get to the Dares' challenge 1, but I'm not sure I have the energy.

Man, there is so much on TV at the same time that I wanted to see. We settled on House. Kayla and I dig that show. I can't believe he is interviewing a new team and that the others aren't coming back!!!!! Or are they????

Okay, I've got lots to do and little time to do it in. Good evening!

Friday, September 21, 2007

Just look at those cheeks. We took the girls (3) to Eat n' Park for lunch and I just wasn't feeding this one fast enough. Six months old and she grabs the spoon and proceeds to shovel it in. I just love those Michelin Man arms!! She's a cutie!!

It's Friday!!! Hooray!!!!!!!! I am counting the hours. I have no plans this weekend (scary) but to scrap the 3 Bugs Sketch and Scrap Challenge, do laundry, scrap the BG sketch, move Kayla's room upstairs (you may have read that a few times, but for real this time), scrap generally, bake, clean out the cellar, scrap.

And it's gorgeous here in Pittsburgh. The high's are in the 80's and will be this weekend. So, I think a trip to the park needs to be included.

But right now, I am putting together brochures for a seminar the Firm is attending next week. And thinking about all I want to do this weekend. And reading blogs! And visiting the Boards! And . . .

Happy, happy Friday!!!

Here Comes Trouble!

The shirt says it all! Ben was at the house when I got home last night. I got a loud whoop and a hug. He'll be staying over in two weeks. I am so looking forward to it. He is such a darling little man. Still can't understand a thing he says, but he is adorable!!!!

Yesterday's scraplift challenge was Veronica Jennings. Here is my version:

A neighbor brought their granddaughter over last night to play with Kayla for an hour. We sat in the kitchen and caught up with each other. I hardly ever see my neighbors, my work days are too long and I'm always running on the weekends. But sitting there I realized I really need to get into some sort of clutter control mode. I have stuff everywhere!

It's warming up here in Pittsburgh. The high is 80 today and I hear the weekend is going to be gorgeous!!

Happy Thursday!

Wednesday, September 19, 2007

Normally, I do not scrap lift layouts. I just don't. But yesterday's Scrapbook Takeout scraplift challenge was of a layout by Breanne Crawford, the newest member of Scrapjacked. Here is my take:
Personally, I love it! First off, it didn't take me four hours, I didn't cover every surface and I only used one 2 sided sheet of pp. Of course, I was scrapping this at 1:00 a.m. cause there just are not enough hours in the day for me.

Kayla wasn't feeling well, came home from school and crashed, so I popped in our latest Netflix arrival: The Departed. OMGosh! It was good and frustrating and I so wasn't expecting the ending.

Heard there was a bomb threat in town this morning. Passed the police cordoned off street while on the bus. Haven't heard anything else. People are nuts.

The Embellishment Studio announced that September kits have gone postal! Woo Hoo! I can't wait to use all that yummy vintage ribbon and lace!

The countdown has begun for new scrap site Dixie Pieces. It will be going live 9/30/07. There's a promise of a tantalizing Happy Harvest Kit for October.

I ordered a Think Pink scrap kit from Happy Scrappin Scrapbooking. All proceeds go to the Susan G. Komen Foundation. I will be using the kit during their Think Pink weekend crop September 28 - 30th. You can check out the details here. You will need to pre-register for the crop to participate. Remember, it's for a good cause!

Okay, so have a Happy Wednesday!

The latest LO to be accepted into BG's gallery:
This is my third to be accepted. However, I realized that they apparently bump a previous one when they add a new LO.

I completed my GDT assignments for Scrapbook Takeout and submitted them this morning. September's Works Kit was "Alphabet Soup" so I used a Back to School theme for my submissions. I'll post those in a few days.

I will be virtually cropping the weekend of September 28-30 at Happy Scrappin' Scrapbooking. The theme is Think Pink and is for a good cause! ( I LOVE on-line crops!) I hope to see you there!!

Tonight The Biggest Loser is on. I am attempting to lose weight along with them. For real. Excuse me, I just got an e-mail that says pastries in the kitchen.

Happy Tuesday!

Got A Toot!

I uploaded my Playful layout to the Basic Grey Gallery this morning and got an e-mail this evening that it has been accepted into the Gallery!! Woo Hoo!

Happy Monday!

Thank you Kostas for the Happy Monday bear. And a Happy Monday to you!

The folks anniversary breakfast turned out real nice. The food, service and company were excellent. I think everyone had a lovely morning.

I had to turn the heat on. It's only September!!!! I will be working to pay the gas bill this year! But it was colder in our house than outside, and heck, it was cold outside!

Got alot of scrapping done and now I am in an 'enter every DT call or contest' mode. Happens to me about once a year. Around this time, too, I think. Ahhh, but it is all in fun.

Here is a fun one:

This is my KayBear. It's title GOT CHOCOLATE? Cause you always know when she's been eating it; it's always, somehow, on the tip of her nose! Don't know how she does it.

I hear the Steelers won yesterday. Go Steelers. Okay, I don't watch, but I can still root em' on.

So Much To Do . . .

. . . and where am I? Here, getting lost in cyber space. I have on my list of things to do today: 2 projects and 2 layouts that I need to get sent in by Tuesday for my GDT stint this month. A pile of laundry that needs done, grocery shopping and I need to start getting Kayla's bedroom moved up to the third floor. Yep, she is coming back up next to me and her room will be the nursery/play room. Some day, some day, that room is going to be what it originally should be - a dining room. Okay, I am procrastinating. It's cool and brisk, but sunny here today. Perfect day for a sweater and a hike.

Happy Saturday!

Thursday, September 13, 2007

Closer to Friday!

Hooray! Ahhh, my Amanda fell yesterday. Scraped her knee, hurt her shoulder, but protected the baby. She's sore today. Kayla is doing well, loving school, so far. We have done research on homeschooling and it's something we are keeping in the back of our minds. If we stay where we are living now, we will definitely be homeschooling for the upper grades.

I have so much scrapping to do!! I received my winnings from Scrapbook Takeout's Short Order Cookoff Contest - so much good stuff, I can't wait to use it! Also received The Works kit from Scrapbook Takeout. Now I need to scrap!!! And there are so many projects on my list!! I will be scrapping tomorrow night at our LSS. Looking forward to it!

It's gorgeous here today! Cool, crisp, blue and sunny!! No changes at the office yet. It's been 4 weeks since the guy I worked for left and I am still waiting to be reassigned. Don't get me wrong it's been stress free and relaxing, but I've had enough. It's hard to look busy all the time!

My folks 50th wedding anniversary is, oops, tomorrow! We are celebrating it Sunday at the Steelehead Grille.

It's time to go read some blogs (my new favorite pasttime!). Have a happy Thursday!

I had a lovely weekend . . .

scrapping with Jeannette and Terry at Kelli's Queen of the Crop weekend getaway in Austintown, Ohio. I created six layouts, and I love each and every one of them. Kayla stayed at her Pappy's for the weekend, which left our Amanda all alone. Sorry, Amanda!

I am so excited! I got notice that I will be receiving Scrapbook Takeout's September The Works Kit this week and as I am guest designer for the month of September (woo hoo!), I'll need to get crackin' on using this fabulous kit as my deadline is the 18th. You know how bad I am about deadlines. BUT I will make it!!!

Over at Bad Girls, there is a fabulous Top Designer Contest going on. It's a school based theme, which is so much fun and will run for six weeks. The first week's lesson is Color Theory. Here is my entry:

And here are the details behind my color theory:

As the subject of my photos are the girls studying nature, I wanted to invoke the feeling of freshness and youth. I chose the color green to represent nature. I love the splash of orange as it brings warmth and energy. The brown, the color of earth, was used to ground the layout.

The gallery is hopping with amazing talent. Check it out.

Happy Monday!!

Another Layout Accepted by Basic Grey!!!

Woo Hoo! Got an e-mail that the "My Girl" layout I submitted, JUST YESTERDAY, was accepted into Basic Grey's on-line gallery. That excites me to no end!!! And here is where it all takes place. That is my scrap space. A converted sink. This sink is up on the third floor. Don't know the history behind it, hmmm, that's a subject for the future, but it is the perfect height for me to stand at and scrap away.

Spent a glorious weekend with my family. The weather was fabulous! Saturday, Kayla went to Uncle Joey's early, so Mom and I went to Lowe's and bought flowers for our porches. These are mine:

It really looks so nice and autumny. I am not one to rush the season, but these next 4 months are my absolute favorite of the whole year and I want to enjoy each day to the fullest.

Getting packed for a weekend crop. And so much going on at the various Boards I am totally addicted to. I've gotten some great mail lately, totally makes my day!!!

My biggest project today - fighting the Borough. WHAT a pain they are!!! So wish me luck and have a fabulous Wednesday!!!

TGIF! I am so looking forward to this long weekend. Currently I am going through photos to scrap for this weekend's Beach Party Crop over at Scrap Treasures. What a fun Board and great challenges! Stop by, check it out!

My new washer and dryer will be delivered tomorrow and I have tons of laundry to do. I need to go grocery shopping, and after Church on Sunday, I am taking Kayla and Cammi shoe shopping. No plans yet for celebrating Monday. Maybe a trip to the theater. I'll have to check what's playing.

School is in Session!

Kayla started school yesterday. She is now in the third grade. Amanda videotaped and interviewed her after school. It's really cute.
Cammi started today, but I won't see her until the weekend when I take her and Kayla for new shoes.
Otherwise, it's peaceful here (so far). Happy Tuesday!!

Peaceful Weekend

It was. Peaceful. Friday was our Firm's picnic. Great fun, great food! Kayla came to work with me and played with the office admin's son all day. Amanda picked us up and off we went. It was HOT! Saturday, was HOT! A and K hosed off the front porch and yard. It helped. Mom and C stopped by. Kayla played with Kaileen all day. Sunday was a much cooler day. I went to Church, then to the grocery store. Dropped a stuffed chicken into the slow cooker. Cleaned, did laundry, ordered a new washer and dryer. Relaxed.

Prayers to you Kostas. May you stay safe.

And here is Little Man on our holiday weekend in Ligonier. This is at Idlewild's Soak Zone. You never know when he is going to break out in the Ben dance.

We're Back!

What a fabulous weekend! Here are a couple of photos of Princess and Little Man. Ben (Little Man) had a great time! He was so much fun!!! His newest: Who's dat? Both of them (Ben and Kayla) are total children of the water. Ben only cried when he had to get out. These shots are from Idlewild Park's Soak Zone. We spent all day Saturday there. First was Storybook Forest, some rides, Mister Roger's Neighborhood and then swimming. The water was SO COLD! Friday, we went to The Living Treasures Zoo. Got some great photos from there, too. Sunday, it rained. . . all day! But I always like when it's raining when we are coming home. It's makes it so much easier to leave. And yesterday was rather quiet. Kay and I picked up some groceries and then I played make-believe with her (some imagination!) all day. I did get the kitchen and living rooms cleaned. Tonight is the bathroom, dining room and laundry. Ooooh, and it was so cold and damp, I had to shut some windows. Today, we are to get 2-4 inches of rain. Anyway, I think Jayme had a good time and my Amanda always does. Mini-holidays are so much fun!

On the home front, it's quiet (for now). I hope it stays that way. Kayla and Cammi start school next week. Taxes are due. The porches need winterized. I need to start planning our Halloween party and make final arrangements for the folks' 50th wedding anniversary.

At work, I am still covering girls on vacation. Don't think I'll be assigned to anyone specifically for another couple weeks. I am enjoying this while I can!

On the scrapping front, Jeanette and I are gearing up for an out-of-town crop coming in September. I've checked pub calls and there are a few calls I want to enter.

And that's it. So. . . I hope your week is starting off fabulous! Happy Monday!
