Scrap Mojo Challenge # 13

Did you check out Scrap Mojo's latest challenge? You can find it here. This is what my warped mind came up with. I based it on this poster:

And I used the title "Vampire".

Now, I apologize to any who are squeamish or offended, but rest assured that I had permission from the photographee to use this pic. As a matter of fact, she took great delight in helping me attain the correct consistency of red paint, and the splatter effect. Note: Three sheets of white Bazzill were ruined in the making of this layout. Blood red against white is just too garish. Oh, and a special apology to Amanda for the splattered carpet, hence the bloody footprints walking across the floor. We'll clean it up . . . honest!

Giving to Charity

Do you give? Today's blogging assignment: Name three things you give to charity. In our house we give clothes, toys and small furniture to the VVA. Probably at least five times a year. My Mom and sister hate to throw and/or give things away. So they bring it to our house, put in the main hall, which is already cluttered with bikes, roller skates, shoes, umbrellas, coats, the baby's strollers, numerous doll strollers as Kayla has a fascination with those and we probably, no lie, have 8 of them in various sizes/colors. And we probably buy most of it back at the Church's twice a year rummage sales. Well, maybe Amanda and I don't, but Kayla sure does. She loves the rummage sale and always spends $20.00 or more and comes away with bags full of stuff. The next sale is May 17th and she already has it marked on her calendar and is saving a portion of her bi-monthly allowances.

NSD - have any plans? Stace, Terri and I just reserved our spots for the LSS 10-10 crop. Woo Hoo!!! I can't wait. The girls and B are housesitting that weekend, but they will be close to the store so they'll drop in to do some shopping. With both of them scrapping now, adhesive has become a commodity.

Although I have Ben this weekend, I hope to scrap, ALOT. OOOh, that reminds me, I need to upload some photos to Shutterfly for printing.

It's gorgeous out today. Hope it is in your neck of the woods, too.

He's growing!

Thank You, Mom

Dear Mom:
Thank you for being the best mother and role model a girl could have. Thank you for listening, for caring, for always being there for me. Thank you for taking such an interest in our lives, so much so that you volunteered to be leader our Girl Scout Troup and den mother to Kenny's Boy Scout Pack. For always packing our school lunches, for having a full course dinner on the table four days a week and for letting us eat cereal or apple butter toast on the three days Dad worked late. Thank you for believing in me, for making me feel ten feet tall, for wiping away the tears, for the hugs and kisses. Thank you for making those biscuit donuts while we watch The Flintstones when they debuted in the evening, and for the times Cathy and I would wake up to our Barbies dressed in new outfits because you stayed up and sewed. Thank you for making each Holiday the best. For supporting us in school. For helping us take care of our own children. For still being here and believing in us and for still spending quality time with each of us. Thanks Mom for all that you continue to do.
I love you forever and a day.

What a Week!

We have an old house and it has the best heating system - radiators. Love the heat these throw off on a cold day. BUT, if you happen to hit your head off of one of these, be prepared for a lot of pain. That's what happened to my son Jayme, Monday night. Now, I grew up in this house and my kids pretty much did to. And there has always been a couch or a chair (we rearrange lots) in front of this long, waist high radiator. Well, Jayme sat down with such force that his head went back and he banged it. The sound was horrendous. He just sat there with his head in his hands while blood spurted from a 2 inch gash. Needless to say, off to the ER we went. He had a concussion, did not know his name, the date, the year, anything. It was scary. Finally around 4:00 a.m., he was admitted for observation. I went home to sleep for 2 hours before going to work. Jayme is home now, but his short term memory is not working well. The docs say this should heal with time. I hope so.

Well, the girls and I and Brendan are off to Conley's Resort Inn where there is an indoor waterpark for the weekend. Just a little R&R.

Have a grand weekend!

Happy Monday!

It's a beautiful mornin', Ahhh,
I think I'll go outside a while,
An jus' smile.
Just take in some clean fresh air, boy!
Ain't no sense in stayin' inside
If the weather's fine an' you got the time.
It's your chance to wake up and plan another brand new day.
Either way,
It's a beautiful mornin', Ahhh,
Each bird keeps singin' his own song.
So long!
It is so gorgeous out this morning that this song keeps playing over and over in my head. The sun is shining, the sky is blue and the birds are singing. Glorious! Though I am stuck inside in an office most of the day, it's still a glorious day. The weekend was busy. Scrapped until the wee hours of the morning on Friday. Spent 3 hours in the attorney's office with the kids on Saturday morning. Hopefully Wednesday will be the final hearing. My oldest son Joe and Tera have 2 girls. Tera's Mom drinks and Tera warned her about doing it around the girls. So, in October, she brought them home and had been drinking. Tera told her she couldn't see the girls anymore. Her Mom turned around and sued them for partial custody. This has been an ongoing battle for months. She was temporarily granted every Saturday with Cammi (6) and every other Saturday with Jade (1) pending investigation. The kids are not saying she can't see them, just to clean up her act. After that we went to lunch.

Then, I had to go home and take a nap.

Sunday was lovely. Mom and I went to Church and then the girls and I went to Rose's for an outdoor lunch of hot dogs and ice cream. Later, Kayla and I went to Cammi's 6th birthday party. We stopped at Giant Eagle for already made fried chicken, potato salad, cole slaw, Italian bread and Asiago spread, peanut butter thingies for dessert and went home to have a picnic dinner.

Then, I had to take a nap.

I nap more on weekends than the baby.

And now here I am at work. I've already been asked to work late. There goes my nap.

I hope you are having a glorious Monday!

I AM BENAMEN! (Benjamin)

It's Friday!

Looking for a crop to attend this weekend? Hop on over to 2 Sassy Scrappers for their 1 year birthday bash. Lots of challenges, classes and fun planned. Hope to see you there!!!

If you are looking for a new sketch, check out Triple the Sketch. Today they are debuting with a very versatile and simple sketch to be used three ways.

I plan on scrapping the weekend away (in between cleaning house and laundry). Next weekend the girls and boy and I are taking a mini-vacation and won't be around. So, lots to do this weekend!

But first I have to work. Have a fun and blessed weekend!!

Happy Hump Day!

Hmmm, maybe that isn't the correct greeting. Anyway, Happy Wednesday! Middle of the Weekday! We are Halfway to the Weekend Day. Okay, enough nonsense. I think my triple shot of expresso has me a little revved. If you are looking for a fun month of challenges, hop on over to Sassy Scrappers. They are hosting a month long party in celebration of their grand opening. I scrapped this notebook to hold all the challenges and such:

I love that Chatterbox paper and those American Craft felt flowers! I went to the eye doc's Saturday. Yep, I need a stronger prescription which is not good news as the prescription changed drastically February 2007. I got to scrap while I can still see!

The weather here is iffy. Lots of rain, wind. But then sunshine. Amanda was able to plant the Easter flowers in the yard and her tulips are coming up. The birds were singing outside the window this morning. Ahhhh, Spring! I am hoping its not too cold this weekend as I want to open the windows and spring clean that house.

Met up with a cousin last night and gave her the album she commissioned to have made for her grandson's 12th birthday. She loved it!! I am so glad about that.

The baby has taken to rolling over. He is growing so fast. Kayla missed a few days of school - bad cold symptoms flying around here. We have Ben tonight who has taken to undressing, running into the room where he jumps and throws out his arms and yells, "I'm naked". He is a riot! Cammi will be 6 this week and Jade is now walking.

All is well with my world. Back to work.
