Going Out Tonight

I haven't been out on the town since, well, forever! Tonight a few of the girls from work and myself are going to some Southworks Cinema bash for the showing of Sex in the City. Cocktails, massages, goodie bags, walaah! I'm pretty much a homebody, honestly, I'd rather be home with my grandkiddies or taking them out, so this is a stretch for me.

Anyway, did you check out Bad Girls? They have some fabulous creative classes going on at the site, right this minute! Go check it out. You won't be sorry. I'll be creating the cigar boxes with Kayla and Kaileen this weekend. What a lovely project!

Okay, gotta go put on some lipstick - my favorite kind of make-up. Have a great night!

Been Busy

Been so busy here with school coming to an end and getting ready for Kayla's operation next Wednesday. The weather has turned and it's gorgeous here! Blue skies, cool breezes. Perfect! My list of things that I need to do is a mile long. But I'm checking it off slowly. Took some photos over the holiday weekend. Mostly of Ben. He's such a ham! He is totally into Spiderman. The next is Brendan. He's growing and belly laughing, sitting up by himself. So precious! The last is Kayla playing Stratego with her Mom. We were at Jerry's house for a cookout for Memorial Day. Good food, good fun!

The Longest Road Trip

I'm a day late (what else is new). This Sassy Scrappers blog prompt was yesterday's and I loved it, but didn't get a chance to get here. Anyway, as it happens, I have been scrapping our last summer's vacation. We were a 3 car caravan driving from Pennsylvania to Avon, North Carolina. Only a 15 hour drive, give or take a few. BUT, our car is small, only fits 4 comfortably and our air conditioner was not working. Amanda's boyfriend JUST NEEDED to bring is own bedding - so his hot blankets or whatever was all rolled up was between whoever was sitting in the back seats. Torture!!! It was the longest and hottest drive of my life. I seriously have more photos of Kayla in the car, and photos of passing countrysides, quaint towns, etc., than I do of our whole week in NC. Sad, I know. Except for my Mom getting sick at the beginning of the week and having to stay in bed the whole time, the driving was the second and only other worse thing that happened on the trip. Otherwise, it was a grand weekend, our house was fabulous!!! The ocean was fabulous, as was the pool, the sauna, the pool table, our day at exploring the lighthouses and our day spent at Ocracoke Island. Would I do it again? Yes, but next time we'll fly!

I'm Branching Out

I am. In an effort to get organized (stop laughing) I've started a new scrap blog here. This one is too messy, like a junk drawer. It needs a good cleaning out. I intended to keep this as a journal, to memorialize the every day happenings of mine, my children and mostly my grandkiddies life and whatever. Helps later when I go to scrap a certain event.

Happy belated Mother's Day! I didn't get on-line yesterday. Spent the early part of the day with my Mom, daughter and granddaughter. We had lunch at Panera's (everyone's new favorite) and then got caught in the downpour as we ran around the Waterfront. It was cold yesterday, even colder today. I HAD to put the furnace on to take the chill off that big old house. Sadly, I didn't take pictures. I need to pick up some batteries today.

We had Ben this weekend. Went out and bought him some Spiderman undies. He's a big boy now, ya know. And a Hulk toy. He is so into Spiderman and the Hulk. I can remember when my boys were.

Kayla spent the weekend at her Dad's. He had surgery on his back Saturday and said she was a big help. I know she came home pretty happy.

Well, gotta work. Happy Monday!

Did You See?

I was chosen for Wednesday's Artist of the Week on 2 Sassy Scrappers' blog. Woo Hoo!! How exciting is that!!! You can see it here.

I'm Behind . . .

. . . on everything!! Work has been a bear!! Still!

In a nutshell here's what's going on:

* I did get to scrap Saturday for NSD. I had a great time and Stacey and I ate dinner at The Cheesecake Factory. Yum! My girls and Brendan stopped down as they were housesitting in that area and they did a little shopping.

*Kayla and I have been walking in the evenings. Trying to strengthen her little legs for the upcoming operation. We'll have more details after next Thursday (the 17th). But the quality time we spend together is awesome. She is so funny.

*I need to make Mom a card for Sunday and I need to finish my 19 cards for a Recipe Swap.

*Watched "Knocked Up", not recommended for the kiddies. Didn't realize that . . . note to self: preview! preview! preview! Sheesh!

* I am still in the lead for this round of the biggest loser (at the office), but the competition is much tougher this time and we have 5 weeks left! Ugh! But the money is up to $130.00 and though I'm only 3 lbs from my goal (I've become a human yo-yo these past few weeks, 148 - 146 - 147 - 146, but NO 145, oh no!)

* I've been checking out lots of scrapblogs - love the inspiration and challenges. I've a list of scrappy things to do.

* Am really, truly taking down the wall to the walk-in.

* Am really, truly going to pull down those ceiling tiles to see where that leak is coming from.

* I've been adding to my inspiration book. It's filled with sketches, stuff I take from magazines, etc. I carry this along with me to scraps and am amazed at the persons who borrow it.

Gotta go write a letter. Take care. Happy Wednesday!

Birthday Parties

Kayla's 10th birthday is coming up and while we are still taking her to Chicago, that trip has had to be pushed back for a few months due to circumstances that have arisen just recently. So, what to do for her birthday? Her operation is exactly 1 week before her birthday and we do not know yet what sort of recoup time we are looking at, what limitations she'll have, etc. We've done the Chuck-E-Cheese thing, the Zoo thing, the sleepover. I'm more the tea party type, she is not. This is not going to be easy. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

I never was a birthday party person growing up. I truly only remember having one birthday party with friends and that was when I was in the 7th grade. I was happy with getting lazagna for dinner and cherry pie for dessert. Now, my sister was a huge birthday party person. She HAD to have a party every year. We still have one for her every year, but it's so easy cause she was born on January 1 and the family is always together the evening before. I still choose not to celebrate it big.

Cropping tomorrow!! Woo Hoo! I need to go home and pack all my goodies. I'm hoping to have some good scrappy mail waiting for me today. Fingers crossed!

It's going up to 76 degrees today with rain, but that's a-okay! The furnace has been shut off (again) and the windows are opened. I'm hoping the warmer weather is here to stay.

Anyway, have a great day, have a great weekend!
