A Few More from the Weekend

Ben loved the water toys.

Ben as Spiderman, of course.

Kayla sweet Kayla

It is lovely today. Blue skies and flowering trees.

WOW! Did you catch American Idol last night???? Adam in the bottom two???? What a turnaround! Ben and I also watched "Hotel for Dogs". It was cute. He liked it.

April flew by. May tomorrow. I'll have to check my list and see if I can cross anything off.

A Work in Progress

Kayla's sundress. All it needs now are straps. I'll be adding those tonight.

If you are looking for a fun on-line crop this weekend, stop over at Live, Imagine, Create. A few challenges have been posted. The Bingo word list is up (you have til tomorrow night) and the Board itself is bright, pretty and full of fabulous and inspiring info. I hope to see you there!

I read a fabulous article in the June 09 issue (already?) of "How" about how 5 designers and artists have committed to making art everyday. This article was just what I needed to put into motion a plan to create just a little each day. I have a bad habit of focusing on the whole, the "forest" rather than the "trees", which can be overwhelming and is so not good for my procrastinating tendencies. Which is what I am doing right now. Procrastinating. Alright, back to work.

Ben

Gray Skies Are Gonna Clear Up

The sky as I left for work this morning. Thank goodness Jayme insisted I take the umbrella. It was raining before I reached the end of our street. But once in town, the sun was shining!

It's Friday!!!! And the forecast for this weekend is lovely!!!

I joined Twitter this morning. Going to see if it helps with my journaling. Going to see if I can even manage a Twitter account. I had joined Facebook once at the invitation of a friend, but it was too confusing, and I deleted myself out of it.

A Day Late

Yesterday was Administrative Day and this is what I received. A lovely basket from the Firm. Gift cards to my two favorite spots and inside the box is a pie crust, a pie filling mix and a bright, red, silicone spatula (great idea for future gift giving!). I also went to lunch at Eleven - YUM! and the card is a musical card which plays "Unbelievable". I love the card!!! Last year's played "Pressure". Christine finds the best cards! Thank you Christine and Jim and the Firm!

Amidst all the pine needles, the tulips are beginning to bloom.

We are expecting a gorgeous weekend with temps in the high 80's. WooHoo! I will have Ben and Kayla all weekend and we plan to participate in the "Clean the Parks" program on Saturday morning.

I have so much to do this evening, I hate to wish my life away, but I am looking forward to getting home and getting started on my list of things to do.

Hope your day is sunny and bright!

To the Moon, Alice

Ben got these Hulk hands for Christmas. Brendan discovered them in the toy chest this past weekend. He is too funny!

It's wet here today. The forecast is calling for snow but the weekend should climb to the 80's. Winter and summer all in one week.

I have been so busy working on my list(s). I have so much to show, I just need to take the time to scan and upload.

I am so excited for NSD and all the on-line crops that are being offered. I've been blog-hopping every chance I get.

Walked six miles today. To Squirrel Hill and back. In the rain. It was a good walk. Safe in daylight. The first mile, I thought my ankle was broke, it hurt so. After the second, I thought if I stop right here on this corner, right now, this is will the rescue party will find me four days from now. So I didn't stop and the rest was a breeze.

Kayla and Amanda visited this evening. Kay's dad gave her a drum set and as I have more room, I get to be the keeper of the drums. He forgot drumsticks. I'm hiding my wooden spoons.

Did you catch the Susan Boyle performance on Britain's Got Talent as shown on-line? You can catch it here. I thought she was darn good and I liked her sense of humor.

Jayme and I watched The Spiderwick Chronicles today. We liked it.

I'm just finishing up a few things and then I'll be setting about getting ready for the work week. Ahhhh, weekends are so wonderful! It's a pity it has to end.

And Baby Makes 6

It's official. Amanda is carrying my 6th Grandchild. The tentative due date is October 18, 2009. Tried to get a family photo but Kayla was angry that she had to go home. So this is Amanda, Jerry and Brendan.

And Kayla.

I may be childless this weekend. What to do, what to do. My paper trimmer fell off the counter and the blade broke. My last blade. So, I was resorted to using scissors. I will definitely be stopping at a Michael's or Joann's this weekend.

The weather is warming up here. The sun is shining. Oh Joy! I am looking forward to getting outside and planting.

2 Projects

I am working on two scrap projects. One was Shimelle's Scrap Your Day which just ended, BUT I saved all the prompts and am doing it now. Right now. I've chosen the 12th of each month as the day I will scrap (partly because Easter was the 12th and that would give me a head start, and partly because so many birthdays in our family fall on the 12th). The other project and one I am not behind in as it is going on right now, is Elise Blaha's Get Crafty Workshop. Day One's project has me so excited to scrap and just brimming with ideas. I will be using this on my first project:

And Day Two is just as creative. I will be using this in my Day Two project:

I measured Kayla over the weekend and will begin sewing her first sundress. She called the other evening to ask me to please make wide straps and not spaghetti straps so she could wear it to school. Ahhh, the faith of a child.

Tomorrow is payday. Thank goodness. I have budgeted in two visits to Starbuck's this pay period. Tomorrow will be one of them.

Taxes - tonight. Really!

Easter Photos

A few photos from a lovely Easter weekend. Kayla stayed over Thursday evening through Sunday morning and Ben from Friday to today. It was Ben's turn to make candy. He lasted through a few pieces and then he was off to capture some villain in his everlasting superhero play.

Since it would be only Jayme, Ben and I for Easter dinner (my other children are making their own traditions - whole-heartedly endorsed!) I chose to make a big breakfast for Kayla and Ben. We had cheese omelets, sausage patties, fried potatoes, and buttered toast. Hmmmm good! After clean-up, we prepared to go to Church. Amanda and Jerry met us there. BUT, beforehand, Kayla and I stopped at a little park so I could get some photos of her in her new Easter dress. All-in-all it was a fabulous weekend!

Jerry presented me with this gorgeous Lily and I must say it's scent is divine!

It was a lovely, sunny, yet cool day. This is one of my favorites of Kayla swinging.

Ben making candy suckers and bunnies and lambs. I think he enjoyed putting each color wafer in piles more than the actual candy making.

Yes, I really did scrap

I did and here are a few more of the results. The photos are from our NC trip. These were taken of the museum down on Ocracoke Island. It is run by the Ocracoke Preservation Society and is situated in the century-old David Williams House. The house was built around the year 1900. What was fascinating for me was the furnishings. The kitchen was delightful, with its hand pump at the sink and that fabulous stove. I do not know why they are scanning so dark, I think that machine needs an adjustment.

And the Weather Forecast for Today is. . .

. . . COLD and SNOWFALL.

This is a photo of the street I live on which I snapped this morning on my way to the bus stop.

On my April To-Do List, is sew each granddaughter a sundress. I will be using this fabric:

and this (but not together):

Another To-Do List item was to begin scanning the 24 layouts I scrapped in March. I have begun. I am so into 2 page layouts lately. Below are page 1 and 2 of photos taken at Ocracoke Island, Outer Banks, NC. The pirate Blackbeard was captured near Ocracoke by Lt. Robert Maynard of the British Navy. This island has Pirate history and that appealed to all of us. So of course we had to eat at the Jolly Roger Pub and Marina.

The second page, but it did not scan well.

An Eggstordinary Weekend

Saturday, we dyed a few eggs. Brendan enjoyed dipping the eggs as you can see by his lovely green hands. We also, for the first time, made Easter candy. The children, young and old alike, enjoyed this and got quite fancy at times. It was a fun time spent together and we will do it all again this coming weekend with Ben.

Yesterday was GORGEOUS!!!!! The sun was shining and it was warm enough to wear a sweater. After Church, Kayla and I went to Squirrel Hill (of course). We stopped in at Color Me Mine where we ended up staying for a while each painting a ceramic piece. Kayla chose a very detailed Faerie sitting on a mushroom. She did a wonderful job. I chose a flower pot and painted it one color - a lovely, soft Kiwi. Kayla felt it was boring. Maybe it is, but I've got plans for it once I get it home (think rub-ons). Afterwards, we had a late lunch at the Murray Avenue Grill and then headed on home to find Amanda and Brendan waiting for us.

Do you believe for how nice it was yesterday, we are to get snow later this evening. That's just so not cool.

Okay, back to work. Hope you are enjoying this sunny, albeit cool (in Pittsburgh) Monday.

April To Do List

Okay, I am late posting this. But I need a visual as to what I want to accomplish this month. It helped so in March, though I do have a few carryovers.

1. Scrap 5 layouts/projects.
2. Open that Yoga tape and DO IT!
3. Read 2 books.
4. Organize the playroom.
5. Save $$ towards vacation.
6. Clean the dining room.
7. Send mail to Cammi and Kayla.
8. Buy dirt and repot the 3 plants.
9. Buy dirt and plant the herbs.
10. Sew one project.
11. Continue on with the DO IT BOOK. Earn the sewing badge.
12. Blog more than once this month.
13. Scan the 24 layouts from last month.
14. Create at least 5 page kits:
15. Lose 8 pounds. Keep thinking of all those sundresses your sister bought you.

Okay, did I say there were a few carryovers? I didn't do as well as I thought. Good thing there are 30 more days, er, 26.

Kayla had a friend sleep over last night. They were very well behaved. I think, I hope. I put them on the first floor and retired to the third. I actually thought Kayla would be climbing in next to me in the middle of the night cause she gets so scared in this big old house, but she didn't. Hooray Kayla!

Today, we will be making candy for the Easter baskets. And dying a few eggs. Only a few, because I have to do it again next weekend with Ben. Later this afternoon we will be celebrating Cammi's 7th birthday. I think 7th. And if I can find these little tablets I bought, I want to have the girls cover them with pretty paper and flowers and a "for you" tag to tuck into the Easter baskets. I am not fond of the search and find game. Probably because we play it every day at the office. And whatever we are looking for is usually on or under the attorney's desk. Can you say 'F R U S T R A T I N G'. OR sing it in your best opera voice.

Ha! Ha! That reminds me. My kids and I were fooling around and whatever I was saying, I sang the end. And they were like "Mother!". And I said why can't life be like a musical. I mean really. Let's just break out in song. Did I tell you I can clear a room. Yep. Quite easily, too.

Well, the sun is shining and the birds are singing. Very deceiving, cause for how lovely it looks out there, it's only 38 degrees. I called the weather. No fooling me.

Okay, laundry calls. Have a blessed day!
