The Plan

My girls and I have had mini-spa days. This is going to be a DIY spa weekend. At least I am are going to attempt one.  I've checked out a few on-line sites for ideas on schedules, homemade facials, lotions, hair conditioners (there are tons of ideas out there), and this is my plan.  Of course, it's flexible cause you never know what might come up.
7:30 - wake - check
7:45 - 15 min. meditation - check
8:10 - walk one mile - check
8:30 - breakfast - check
9:30  - morning exercise - stair climber - check
11:30 - walk one mile - walked 3 as it is beautiful today!! - check
12:30 - lunch - Panera's with M, M and M
1:30 - beauty treatment(s)
3:30 - snack break - orange tea - check
4:30 - afternoon exercise
5:30 - dinner (no eating after 7:00 p.m.) - check
7:00 - walk one mile
7:45 - bath/shower
8:15 - relax, read, watch a movie, etc.
10:00 - bed

So, that's the Plan. We shall see.
5:16 p.m. UPDATE: Doing well so far. Going out to lunch and light shopping had me miss the beauty treatment, but I can do that tonight. And Ben and Jayme came to visit so I still need to get in the afternoon exercise and walk another mile.  Good day!!

Friday

Catchy title, huh?
Rainy, snowy, cold, wet day.
A shout out to Amanda, home with three little sick ones. Sorry chick, been there, done that.
Had a lovely afternoon with Mom.
Made a stop at DB (OH YEAH!) and lunch at Applebee's. Ooh, good shrimp and spinach salad. Yum!
Slowly clearing the clutter out of K's room.
Thinking spa weekend - gotta plan.
Lots of exercise.
Maybe pay per view a movie.
Maybe a libation . . . or two. Oh, just joking Mom, never touch the stuff. Don't know how it got in the freezer, or the shelf or on the rack or even the table!

Really...um, did I mention spa weekend???
Gotta go now. Later.

Up Next: Flooding

If you park on the Mon-Wharf, it will be closed tomorrow. Flooding is expected. Luckily, I have taken tomorrow off and will not have to take the bus or spend more on parking.  I hope to be sleeping in. Well, just a little. I really do not want to waste a day off sleeping.
Started back on WW yesterday. Walked a mile this a.m. Bowling tonight.
So much to do. I need to gather my thoughts. More later.

It Snowed! Again.

Friday saw a record high of 66 degrees, in February, the middle of winter.
Yesterday we had 8.4 inches of snow fall.
I drove home from work in the midst of the snowstorm.  Why is this relevant you ask? Because I, as in me, drove home in it. Okay, crawled. But I did it. And I got up this morning and drove through the covered side streets back to work. That's history in the making!
Officer M was none too happy with all that snow.  Made his job harder he said.  I took a picture, told him "but, it's so pretty."  He, well, he. . . some people have no sense of humor.
Luckily, the sun is shining and hopefully most of it is melting. Hopefully.

Weekend Highlights

K and I walked around B&N on Friday night. Buying books. Reading titles. Some are so catchy.
Me: The Sugar Queen
K: I bet that's not even about candy.
Saturday, we woke early, nabbed Kai and drove to town. For Starbuck's. What else.

Girls were surprised at the ghost town appearance (it was WAY early)
Lattes and texting
Then we went to the Highmark Sports Works.
Riding the Virtual Steel Phantom
Jumping
and jumping
Then the Science Center. My favorite is the train display. It's awesome.
Then the girls made oil reservoirs.
Is K actually paying attention to what the guide is telling her to do???? I am so proud!
So intent
Looking good K!
After painstakingly filling up their bottles and having the oil put in, Kai shook hers. Seriously? ! Off to make bracelets.  This display was offered by the Pitt Industrial Engineers Class.  They use math to problem solve. Like how to make the ride lines shorter at Disney. You are kidding, right?
Good job, K!
Then grocery shopping for taco fixings. Kai went home. Cammi came for the afternoon. We rented How to Train Your Dragon. I took a nap.
Cammi
K and I watched comedy shows til we feel asleep and that's about it. Took her to the Dollar Store and Starbucks on Sunday and then home.  Mister and I had a lovely evening Friday and dinner Sunday. I was asleep before 8:30 last night, so I'm ready to take on the whole office by myself! Seriously by myself. It's a holiday. The staff is off. Only the attorneys are here. And Me. Cause someone raised my hand.

Organized = IF I were . . .

IF I were organized, I would not have to climb the two flights of stairs in my house at least five times each weekday morning looking for things I need.
IF I were organized, clothes would not be strewn all over my bedroom each morning because I can't decide what to wear.
IF I were organized, I'd have time to pack a lunch, eat breakfast, tie my shoes.
IF I were organized, I'd know right where that DB layaway receipt was so I could pick up my new jacket and sweater.
IF I were organized . . . IF ONLY.  I can hear Tim Gunn now, "GET IT DONE!" . . . working on it . . .
On that note . . . it's gorgeous here TODAY!!! Currently 64 degrees.  I HAD to go for a walk at lunch.
Blue skies, some clouds

But the sun is peeking through

Spring is in the Air. . .

. . . not quite, but today is feeling good. Going to be in the 50's this afternoon. Bring it on! Also, on February 2, Punxsutawney Phil surveyed his surroundings carefully and found that there was no shadow around, which means an early spring.  Of course, he also predicted the Steelers would win the Super Bowl . . .

Joey and Tera and their daughters, Cammi and Jade, moved this past weekend into a 1930's old style farmhouse.  It is old and has been so uncared for [read dilapidated] but it has a certain charm and so much potential.  J and T have refinished all the wood floors to a rich dark brown and they are beautiful. The girls each of their own huge bedrooms, which they repainted in a rainbow of pastel colors and the girls are delighted. On the property is a little potting shed that will be fixed up for the girls' playhouse. There is a two car garage (albeit wood and rotting) for Joey to set up a workshop.  A back room to the garage for Tera to keep chickens and added to that is a rather disgusting outhouse.  Yep, you read that right - an OUTHOUSE!!  Ewwwwww! The yard is huge, the front porch quaint and in the kitchen a very large center working station with sink - love it!!!

An Officer and a Gentleman . . .

. . . perfectly describes my new friend (just a friend and a good one to have), MW.  He is a police officer, whom I met when he came to investigate the break-in of my car.  He is funny! and sweet! and just plain nice. And I think our street gets patrolled just a tad more each evening. So, thanks MW and be safe out there.

Happy Valentine's Day

May your day be filled with love.

I made a list of my top favorite love stories.  They include (not in any particular order):

The Notebook - a tear jerker.  But the love - I want to live a romance like this.

Dr. Zhivago - this movie is beautiful. The scenery, the music, Julie Christie.

Splendor in the Grass - my children refuse to watch this with me.  They say they can't hear the actors for the loud sobbing that emits from my body. It's true, I do cry through most of this film.  It gets me.  She loves him SO MUCH and he, well, he messes up.

An Officer and a Gentleman - what we all want - rescued.

The Bridges of Madison County - oh my. What would I have done?  What would you have done?

Gone with the Wind - not only have I watched this about twenty times, I've read the over 1,000 page book, twice. Love it! Love it! Love it!
When I first started watching this movie, I have to admit, I was like, this is stupid, I'm not watching this. I was totally wrong.  This movie is FANTASTIC. The love this man has for his child is, well, beautiful!

And the Mister gave me flowers.

Routines = Efficiency

As I may have mentioned before, I have a routine for keeping my house clean or at least fairly clean.  I have company often, many times unplanned (the best kind) and so I need the place to be presentable.  I do pay to have it cleaned twice a month (SO WORTH EVERY CENT!), but I realize its up to me to keep up on it.  That's why, as you will see on my sidebar, I post my daily list.  If I follow this list (it changes slightly day to day), I never get behind, there are no piles of clutter and laundry does not climb the walls.  It's an easy list and once you got it down to a routine, it's a breeze.  Plus I like making lists.
Keeping it clean
This weekend plans have changed. Kayla has a birthday party Saturday and Sunday, so I plan on staying around the house. Baking sugar cookies for my Valentines. Cleaning my room and catching up with some of my favorite reality shows. Thank goodness for weekends!
