The Big Reveal

Last evening, the family gathered at my niece and nephew's home for the reveal of their first baby's gender. My other , Brian, along with the certain medical staff were the only persons privy to the color of balloons that were contained in the "reveal" box. After prayer and great food, the box was opened. Michael was heard to say, "There goes my checking account," followed by pink balloons floating up out of the box. Hooray!!!!
Congratulations, Mike and Jolene!!

My 2014 Summer Reading List

1.    #GirlBoss by Sophia Amoruso;
2.    The Fault in Our Stars by John Green; and
3.    the adorable board books: Guess Who, A Merry Christmas, Mickey Mouse’s Haunted Halloween and It’s Pajama Time, each for the umpteenth time, because they are Elliot’s current faves.

My summer reading list seems short, I know, but add to that the latest issues of "Artful Blogging," "Where Women Cook," and HGTV Magazine, plus a handful of blogs each day and I think I’ve got summer reading covered pretty well.

Independence Day Recap

The weather: gorgeous blue skies, hot sun, cool breeze. The weather was perfect.
Lunch and shopping with Mom.
Jayme and Tina's house at 3.

Meet family at Penn Center at 8:30 for Fireworks.

What we did right:
Made dips and ice tea slush the night before. No last minute running around.
Brought chairs for comfortable seating.
Filled a bucket with ice, drinks and juice for baby.
Picked up Glo bracelets a few days before at the dollar store and passed them out for added fun.
Changed E into pjs before heading home just in case he fell asleep and we could easily slip him into bed.
Had loads of fun.
