Myself and two co-workers have a weight loss contest going on and on and on. We’ve had to extend our deadline because none of us are losing any weight. As the warmer weather approaches, I realize now is the time to shed these 25 extra pounds. I am not a water drinker, at all, but I do realize the benefits in drinking water all-day-long. I’m not big on exercise but there was a time when I walked anywhere from 1 to 4 miles or more a day. And I felt good. And I looked good. So, today, with you as my witness, I am going to shed 25 lbs. My current weight is 170 and my desired weight is 145. The scale I have now is big (BIG) and old and not digital. It’s been stepped on and dropped and kicked and lifted way too often over the years to be totally accurate (though I suspect it is). However, a digital scale is on the shopping list for this weekend and I’m sure my Mom has a coupon for Bed Bath and Beyond. I’m getting a glass of water right now. Seriously, in a one minute, once I’ve finished typing this missile, this promise, this confession, this desire to LOSE the pounds. Okay, I’m getting that first 16 oz. of water, NOW. Oh, and then I’ll take a before photo. And then I’ll post it. Really…
So, I ducked into the Ladies room here at the office and took these most atrocious photos. I realize that I am wearing an oversized poncho, but believe me, it's not that big!

The weekend was so full. Although Friday was the official first day of Spring, it is still cold here. Not the freezing, Arctic type cold of a few weeks ago, but still cold. Saturday started out by driving to Mom’s, taking her to the mechanic’s to pick up her car, and then lunch at Chick-Fil-A. We stopped in B&N to buy a raincoat for Dylan’s birthday, and then dropped K and E off at Carl’s house. Drove back to the Waterfront (we had left Mom’s car there), picked up a few groceries, said good bye to Mom and then on my way out of the Waterfront, get a call from Kayla that she was not staying there, please pick her up. Whew! What an afternoon.
Back home, we made a chicken/rice/veggie dinner, did laundry, cleaned the dining room and relaxed! We had just gotten new bath bombs/melts from Lush, so luxurious baths were in order and even later, the Mister stopped by for a quick drink and chatter.
Sunday, Joey came over and as it was rather chilly out, we just hung around the house until it was time to drive Joey to his apartment. On a whim, we decided to take E to B&N to play with the trains, a real one was passing and K took Elliot for an up close and personal view. Then we grabbed a coffee and a sandwich and headed home.

Happy First Day of Spring! In honor of today, we will be getting down and dirty. Planting seeds, that is. Well, Elliot will get dirty. He will love playing in the dirt and watering the seeds. We are going to plant a few herbs and later a few veggies, and a few flowers.
Does it feel like Spring here in Pittsburgh, PA? Heck, no! We have some snow-rain mixture going on here this morning and the current temp is 34 degrees. I am looking forward to seeing the Supermoon that is to be out tonight. Just hoping it’s not too cloudy/foggy here.
Last night we drove out to the Monroeville Mall so Kayla could look for tights and Ell could get some exercise at Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood. He’s a crazy little dude. He just runs people over and climbs on everything. I think I got as much exercise as him just trying to keep up.
I am so looking forward to this weekend. We have tons planned and so many upcoming events. It's gettin' kind of hectic.

Listen, I love making food from scratch. I really do. I pride myself on my white sauce for chicken pot pie. And making pancakes with flour, milk and oil and NOT from a pre-made mix. The same goes for pizza dough and bread dough and freshly baked cookies. HOWEVER, being away from home 10+ hours (includes travel time) each week day, leaves little desire to go home and cook a nutritional and appetizing dinner from scratch.
Hence, my recent commitment to doubling every thing I cook, half to the dinner table/the other half to the freezer. So imagine my delight when I received in the post, Tastefully Simple’s spring-summer 2015 catalog. The first few pages are dedicated to fast, easy and thrifty ideas for freezer meals! Oh Joy! I need to make a list and send off my order.
