No Place Like Home

I know I’ve mentioned about a thousand times that our house is 100+ year olds and it shows.  And sometimes I may have complained about it.  Ahem.  It seems everything is falling apart.  The master home repair to-do list keeps growing and growing and the items repaired have been few.  But we continue to work on it.  Still there are moments when I look around and have an overwhelming sense of content and happiness.  Like when we’ve just given the kitchen a deep clean, and everything is polished and in its place.  And when our entry hall has been wiped down and swept and is decorated for the current season.

Like this month, when it’s done up for the 4th of July.  All red, white and blue touches.

Yea, the grass needs cut, there is cement work to be done and the basement needs a cleaning out…again, but that can’t touch the feeling of “home” when I’m cooking up a festive meal for family, or filling the fridge and pantry shelves after a big grocery shopping, or running around with the little ones for whom this has been the only home they’ve every known.  There really is no place like home.

What about you?  What do you love about your house??

Peace and Happiness,
Trish
